How to? Drones.

So I'm using this and am missing about 10% of damage from my usual ship but it seems pretty slow all the same...

So just wondering about any other thing's I need to know about drones.. are they as good as paper or any sort of modules that can help.. does the omnidirectional tacking computer work?

Yes, I consider the Omnidirectional TC a mandatory module on any ship using sentry drones, preferably two of them.

Sentries are like large turrets, they need a little help to actually hit anything.

Sentry Damage Augmentor rigs are also good on sentry ships.

With the drone dmg mods, I'm not sure if I'd even run the sentry rigs (stacking penalty + less bonus than the mods).

Apart from that. the downside of drones is their mobility. If you use the combat drones (ogres for example), they'll have a travel time between ships, reducing their dps. Sentries on the other hand have nice ranges, but have to be completely stationary, so it's a pain when you have to move 50km to the next gate or something like that. They are awesome where you don't have to move though.

I plugged your fit into EFT and saw you're tanking about 2k DPS against Sansha which I'm guessing that is the NPC you're missioning against? 2k Tank is absurd...dropping 1EM, 1 Therm hardener + the SBA will give you 693/836 w/ 5 minutes of cap (All V skills) Add 2 Omni's + Target painter imo TP will definately helps a lot with drones and you'll get the added benefit of them helping your torps too since you opted for that instead of cruise.

I use 3 Omni's and a TP on my Rattler and run gardes almost exclusively, it can pick off cruisers orbiting at 10ish km away so real decent tracking. It's still a slow missioning ship tbh. Once I can get around to throwing 3 of those new DDA's on it I'm hoping it will get better.

Yes you need an omnidirectional drone mod!

This fit needs work.
Your looking at max posible dps and not if it can actually land on targets.

Even with a tight fit and level 5 skills, a Rattler takes forever to do level 4 missions. Domi is cheaper and better. Rattler is for folks terrified of getting shot at.

Don't use sentry rig, it stacks with dmg mods and is no longer worth it. Lose the overtank, put in at least 3 omni, not 1 or 2, but 3. Mandatory for sentry.

I have used a Rattlesnake extensively in the past. I agree that it is a slow, steady ship. I don't usually believe in using Torps on the damn thing, but this fit would probably work pretty well. I usually just fit cruise missiles and laugh at how ineffective they are. No point in really blinging it out - it doesn't add that much effectiveness. I do believe in fitting T2 rigs where ever possible.

Three? Are you trying to hit spider drones with them or something?

the third gives like an extar 3-4km range. only useful if you really dont have anything better to put in the mid. aka navy domi/rattler i suppose.

I'd go for 3 as well if you can fit it while maintaining enough tank, 3-4km but in both optimal and falloff, as well as additional tracking, more tracking never hurt anyone, as well as allowing you to use Hammerheads on frigs very effectively. Rattler can safely tank with 1 X-Large and 3 Hards (or 2 and an SBA) without even a cap booster, huge buffer and awesome resists, and with cruise and some rigors, you can project around 900dps to 60km or 800ish to lock range with bouncers, and Cruise + Rigor is pretty reliable damage on anything cruisers and up and not effected by tracking, drones for everything else.

Hammerheads with 3 omnis can take out range frigs in 5 seconds from when they reach
