good work

although it baffles me how something as major as that does not crop up on the test center

its almost like its 2 totally different systems and or code versions between sisi and TQ
whats the deal, not enough load to trigger massive bugs like that or what?

and not to bash Tuxford, but it it SOP to experiment on live (or about to go live) code?

really though good job on the quick fix

Um, how about a patch that does not break everything... then lets say something good...

Obviously a ninja buff for wormhole pilots, them being used to not relying on local for intel of course.

Should be interesting for people to see just how much the accurate relevance of local actually is important to them or not.

All for new inspirational tools and mods to drastically improve and make the scout/recon role specifically more relevant in the game to help make "local" less of an intel tool which is slightly meta by design atm. I do realise its relevance before "improvements" are made to IG intel being more of a reality however, but it would be nice to see EvE evolve more to an active player intelligence provison as opposed to a system wide conveniance aka local chat.

Ok cool why not troll wot forums then since you feel it is so much better than EVE. Tell us how EVE hurt you, did EVE smash adam? maybe it's time you let Eve go I hear wot and wow are right up your alley.

I am not mad bro obviously since I am not the one complaining about EVE in every post I make. I just dont like you, I want to smash adam smash smash to put it in a dialect you should understand.

I also love this chat 'fix'.

Right now I see Misanth and two other guys in local (there's 4 total), but only one is online. The other three is offline. To make it even better; player B and C is showing up in another chat channel, which Misanth doesn't. And in a third channel, Misanth appears but not B and C.

It's completely random, but it's very amusing. I love the 'fix' CCP, please come up with more of these! P

And some "window" fixes that suddenly make me like it a little bit.

I'm just gonna stop bitching and wait those changes in the new dev log. Should they've been done before hitting TQ, yep I believe, however they're doing it ASAP so, it's also a very good point.

in response to why the bugs weren't found on the test server:

when ever ive reported a bug on the test server to a dev or isd or what ever they like to be called there reply is simple 'make a bug report'

and my reply is even simpler 'i just made it, by telling you!'

but i sometimes forget they are only on the test server to clear hordes of drones and wrecks and to orbit the station at 20k kms and say hey everyone look how win i am in my **** little bug frig thing

rant over.....for now >_<

That's precisely it. The problem didn't manifest itself until thousands were online at the same time. Our engineers were at work way into the late evening working furiously to fix the problem, basically keeping the server alive with some sort of hero magic, while working on a permanent fix. The fix was then deployed late last night and allowed the server to be taken off life support.

I swooned a little when I met them at work today.

For some reason I'm still seeing issues with many more folks in local than are actually logged in (tested by adding people to watchlist, they show up offline). :(

Confirmed. Three people I have in my watchlist are offline, yet in local with me.

One of them is a corpmate. He shows up in local, in a chatroom, but not in corp chat.

Maybe I'm saying something that might have nothing to do with but did you tried to clean cache?

Log this evening for only a few min so I can't confirm this was happening since in the system I have this char just saw on my local guys coming and going as per usual.

Doesn't look like it's been a complete fix. Several folk in my corporation are logged off, but still appear in the Corporation and Local channels, even though the contacts watch list shows a red circle next to their names. One person appears to be logged in simultaneously with two characters from the same account, which should quite definitely be impossible. Relogging and clearing cache has no effect. It's most definitely a server-side thing.

But props for the speedy response. This release has had a rather unfortunate number of issues, but hopefully they'll be resolved over the next few days.
