What I do is this:

1) Double-click to open ship hold
2) Ctrl-a and drag items to Item hangar (if you have so many ships in the ship hangar and for some reason you need to have the ships hangar tree expanded (although why would you need to do that when mining is beyond me) you can simply press alt-G to open the Item hangar)
3) Undock

Come on guys! The new inventory system has its problems but for hauling ore it is obviously superior to the old one :/

Edit: Actually if you leave your cargo hold open before docking (and since you're hauling ore you'll be leaving it open anyway) your ship's cargo will be open in the station. So scratch step 1.

For me if, while docked, I have the inventory open and my ship cargo inventory selected, then I undock and redock, the inventory window is still open to my ship's cargo. If it is not that way for you: go to the esc menu, go to "reset settings", click on "reset to default window locations". Then while docked open your inventory and select your active ship. Once you get that your work flow is identical:

Once docked, your inventory window will still be there, open to your cargo.
1 Click on an item
2 Control A
3 Drag to" items hangar" on the inventory tree
4 Undock.

Note that now the inventory window need not be in a special place on the screen, but anywhere you find convenient.

Edit: This fails if while in space you close the inventory window. That is an issue CCP needs to fix: The game should remember the inventory window setup you set while docked, and the setup you set while in space, and not have changes to one change the other.

Btw I can't remember if you had that option before but you can have your ship and items tab integrated in the station menu below guests, agents, offices tabs. It's basically the ships and hangar menu shortcuts from the neocom.

There are some that are happy with the change so i'm looking for you for help.

I mine a lot. Up until yesterday, docking and unloading ore was a three step process.
1) Click on one ore in my cargohold window (which was always open in the lower left)
2) Ctrl-A to select all ore in cargohold.
3) Click-drag the 1/2 inch to the Items icon on the Neocom bar to the left.
4) Click on Undock button in lower left.

I would then click on the Undock button. This whole process took all of about 4 seconds.

Could one of you that mine for a living and like the new UI, please tell me how you accomplish the above with the new UI? I'm just not able to figure it out and I need to if I'm going to keep playing EVE as this is a procedure that I do hundreds of times a week.

Thanks.

Click on cargo hold.
Drag contents to Ore Hold of Corp hanger on the list.
Done.

The new inventory UI is like a first step in the right direction. Now they need to finish the job. Example like we have for drone wings. You can organize your drones into wings in the drone bay. Then just click on which wing you want to launch and launch it.

This would be automatting repetative tasks. Same needs to be done with the inventory UI. Example be able to create an automatted function to unload all ore from ship cargo bay into hanger inventory after docking and assign it to a clickable link.
Then when you do dock up all you do is click on the clickable link you made to do the function and it is done. One click. You can store as many auto functions as you can create or think of and store it as a one line clickable link. I suppose at some point you could end up with a long scrollable list but that may still be better than multiple clicks to do repetative tasks.

CCP would have to install some error checking into the inventory Ui so that one could not for example use the clickable link to move ore form ship to hanger while still in space and end up lossing all the ore.

I would like to create a clickable link to move all cargo from a wreck into my hold as well. Again error checking required to ask if you want to take contraband or not. This can be done and I do hope they do it.

Not to quibble too much, but you combined a couple of steps in your step 2 above.

I think one of the biggest problems for me seems to be a bug. Docking or undocking toggles the state of the cargohold. So, for mining, when I open my cargohold while in space, when I dock again the cargohold will now be closed. If I remember to close the cargohold while i'm in space before docking, then the cargohold will be open again in station. Docking or undocking should not toggle the Items window like that. It should stay the way you left it until you change it. I think this i likely a bug that would be fixed.

If this is fixed, then I can empty ore in station about as efficiently as before other than it being tiny bit slower since the item icon on the tree is much smaller and it takes more care to get the drag and drop just right.

I sure fail to see how it is superior for mining or hauling, but if they fix what I think is a bug, it will at least be workable.

Vince you are helpful and I appreciate it. As I noted in another post, I think that the act of docking or undocking toggles the state of the cargohold. So if it is open in space, it closes when you dock or visa-versa. At least from the testing that I've done. I agree this is a bug that need to get fixed.

wow just wow ..... are we arguing over 2 more clicks has the world turned lazy or are we just trying to keep the old botting scripts working.

u dont need to open ur item window just keep the ship hanger open and drag and drop ur cargo onto the subsection that is the item hanger in station.

simples it saves time by not having multipul windows all over the place open and covering ur screen and then getting confused as to whats ur ship and whats ur ejected can its all good.

Indeed it seems it's a bug since it's the opposite for me. Try resetting your windows position.
And about it beings superior - I guess it might just be a preference. It seems much more convinient for me to use a single window regardless of whether I'm using my missioning ship, hauler, mining ship or whatever. Before I had to constantly change windows position depending on what I'm doing.
That said there are definitely a few kinks in the system that need to be ironed out. Hopefully they'll do it sooner rather than later.

The windows opening and closing is indeed a bug, and should now be fixed. However, there is still a inventory window behavior that should be there, and is not. Here is a "story" for CCP:

When the user docks, all inventory windows are restored to the state (size, screen position, and category displayed) they had when the user last was in station. If this is not possible (category not available at a new location) the window will default to "Item hangar".

When the user undocks, all inventory windows are restored to the state (size, screen position, and category displayed) thay had when the user last was in space. If this is not possible (category not available with a new ship) the window will default to "cargo hold".

Even better if these remembered window states were specific to each station and ship.

Extra clicks add up. Do you remember the original PI clickfest?, I still have carpal tunnel issues from it. Shocked

I just dont get why ppl dont understand how to shift click

you learned how to play a game with this hard a learning curve and shift click is a stumbling block?

And, isn't sanity really just a one-trick pony anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking, but when you're good and crazy, oooh, oooh, oooh, the sky is the limit.

Option is still available in Esc Menu.

That's how I have it, Ships and Items Hangars are merged with station services tabs. Usually the active tab that's open when you undock will still be open when you redock. Basically you'd have the Items Hangar open.

Dock,
click on Items Hangar tab (if not open)
r-click active ship and select 'open cargo hold'
transfer items.
Undock
