When warping to a POS with roles for said POS, my unified inventory is blown up by all of the guns/modules etc that are on it. It would make much more sense, and be much easier to have the POS, and really all new entries in the Index to by default be minimized.
I assume this would also happen when you are in a massive capital/super fleet, and everybody turns on configure (so that they may refit off each other) at which point they will have to minimize EVERYBODY'S tab in the index

This, showing ALL the guns makes the new ui very annoying.

Also when clicking Access Storage on for example a lab it should remember what division i was in last time, like the old ui did.

The new inventory is terrible.

Can we get a option to return the classic view?

Something else I find "Silly" Soundwave, is that if I just have my ships cargo open, and put it where I used to, but then I wan't to access all of my items through your new window. If I click the items window, it simply opens and closes just my active ships cargo. I have to double click my ship to open all other items windows?! That doesn't make any sense at all.

If I double click my ship, it opens all items windows. If I have my cargo open, the items button only opens and closes my ships cargo.

Now, that's just "Silly". Probably about as silly as ships flying backwords, since, you know, it's backwords.

1. Bring back the old shortcuts and right clicks, make them open minimal new inventory system windows at that locations destination ... (no sidebar minimal size, hell how about remember the size of each buttons last window size when it was clicked!).
a. Item Button opens new inventory window
b. Cargo / Fuel / Drones bay buttons in right click and button, open by standard a no-sidebar window that jumps directly to the corresponding area.
c. Corp Hanger, opens the Item Window but jumps to the corp hanger tab and shows hanger 1's content to start.
d. SHIPS BUTTON IN NEOCOM.... Jump to as if you clicked on the ships tree and shows the list of ships, without the treeview shown......

2. Move POS weapons to a sub folder thats closed by standard when on grid.

3. FIX THE REMEMBERING OF WINDOWS for Docked/Undocked states, and there location/size and what tab they were at, as well as whether sidebar was visible or not.

DO THESE 3 THINGS and make So Many people happy!!!!!!!!!!!

This would allow EVERYONE to have the old style of working, but with the new functionality available EVERYWHERE....

if you want to go 1 step forward, make it eventually so we can add neocom shortcuts to special parts of the item manager, like if i want to drag a corp hanger 3 to my neocom and have it open my corp hanger 3 in a popup minimilist window it would that would be nice...

BUT FIX THE FIRST THINGS FIRST

Hi CCP!

I love the new inventory system and I see where you're going with it. However, with it's current release, you'll make a LOT of your existing customers mad. Please, in order to avoid a huge protest etc, try to keep things similar to how we're used to using them, yet enhance our day to day tasks. As I said, the new system is better, but please don't remove our old functionality that we are used to.

Tippia has made a pretty awesome video you should watch.

And wrote a blog (12-05-14)

Tippia wrote:
Anyway, random mumblings (the video you need to watch). I'm writing a long-form blog post about it as well, but it'll take a while to finish…

EDIT: EVE Time: 2012.05.19 22:36

My final opinion on this and I'm done with updating this thread.

I strongly feel that the direction you're going with the inventory is a good one. However, it's current iteration is counter to the objectives it seems you're trying to meet. If you release it in it's current state, you will have a huge uproar of the EVE community. I get it, you guys know what's right for the game you love. However, we know how we play the game on a daily basis.

Please take note of the blogs that are out there and the video Tippia made. It clearly shows the flaws in the system that should be fixed as they are BROKEN.

Please listen to me and the countless people in this thread devs. We are also passionate about this game. Many of my personal ideas have been iterated into EVE. I don't suggest things that will hurt this game.

Suggested Enhancements

•We need yes... NEED the ability to rename corporate hangars at pos's. (pic) (12-05-13)

• Dual pane view similar to Total Commander . This would make you UI people gods and probably be, in my humble opinion, the greatest improvement to the inventory system.

Dual Pane idea clicky

• Being able to drag ships from the index like below to make them active would be a good idea especially when you need to fit a lot of ships in one go. (image) (link) (clarification)

•Inventory windows/cans don't remember their size or position. (12-05-11)

•Old behavior of windows when docked, you'd undock, they would close but upon re-dock, they would re-open has been asked to return. For example, I'd like my ship window to open by default every time I dock or my corporate hangar to re-open if it was the last window I had open.

• Filter filtering...
The ability to create a filter that includes Medium Turrets + Medium ammo only. For example. I can do this, however finding all the names of the medium turrets is a challenge. I understand this may require adding an additional flag to turrets in the database and isn't an 'overnight' fix.

I just wanna see projectile ammo, or hybrid etc. (clarification)

• Keyboard shortcut (similar to windows 7- winkey+{type} )does application searches. Would be great to have this implemented into EVE on some fashion. (link)

•Easy transferring of custom filters between characters/accounts.

• Right Click > Find in assets on modules/ship fitting window, market etc.

• To make setting up custom filters easier , if you could drag multiple items to the new filter button and it would generate a filter automatically based on the items and bring you to the "name new filter" dialog.(12-05-14)

•Create Simlinks to familiar shortcuts. MS did this with Libraries. When I click on a custom library on the left tree, it would open a custom filter (I.E.: Ammo AND Turrets). This is accomplished with custom filters.

•Naming of corporate tabs.

Neocom Stuff to Enhance Inventory:

• Custom Shortcuts on the Neocom.

• Bring back ship button that goes straight to your ship container. A corporate hangar button would be great!

• Right click menu on neo com for inventory to go to 'explore' that part of your tree. <-- this should be the new corporate hanger behavior.

Potential Bugs

• This is likely a bug: Unassembled ships do not show as a folder under "Ships" in the new inventory system. (link)

•AND / OR queries seem to make it so there are no results. i.e: Ammo AND Turrets returns no results instead of showing Ammo... and... Turrets. This has been solved. There is a 'match' bubble down by the area where you name the filter. "Match "any".

•Inventory size not updating to proper value causing errors. (link)

To those of you who are just finding out about the unified inventory. This feature has been live on the test server for weeks now. In addition to that it has been announced on the forums for even longer. It is completely ridiculous of you to be so angry/upset over a feature that you should have known was coming. Note that I am *NOT* talking about those of you who are having problems with it, just those that didn't bother to give feedback or test it.

Regarding the release problems, I understand that it is frustrating to not have all the things working 100% but please name an expansion that has been bug free? Name one from any MMO that has been bug free? They don't exist! NO one does it 100% right, not Blizzard, Bioware, Sony, etc. It sucks, and I really want everything to work right but this kind of project is not a science, its an art. Chill out, give them time, and continue the feedback. In the meantime, work with what ya got.

Part of the problem is that we do not have enough people testing on the test server. I myself am just as guilty of this as anyone. Some problems only present themselves under certain conditions and having just 100 people on a test server doesn't give the variety of situations necessary to expose bugs. Lets all commit to being on the test server more so that we can help CCP work toward smoother releases in the future.

1) I don't have access to my carriers hangars
2) I don't have access to corp hangars even when nothing changed

I made a bug report:

Quote:
I tried to access out corp hangars, but I couldn't. I checked my roles in the Roles Summary which are given by titles and nothing was changed. Then I checked the roles tab and I had not a single role.

3 ) When I shift-click on a container in my own hangar, I get the message:

You have been denied access for the following reason: You require take access to open the container requested.

Not every player reads forum and checks new features on Sisi, aren't they allowed to express their opinions post-expansion? I think they still pay2play.

i posted this in the other forum, though i am sure it will be forgotten in the posts of people complaining about the inventory update... anyway

there is a bug with the local channel and pilots logging offline in system. this bug entails that if a pilot logs offline in system he/she stays visible in the local channel (this does not happen for pilots who jump out of the system) this poses a major problem for pilots in nullsec who heavily rely upon the local channel to tell them whether or not hostile pilots are within their system.

if this could be adressed as quickly as possible it would be greatly appreciated by many.

Furthermore, while I do check the forums, play on Singularity, etc, I think it's strange that the folks who don't do those things have no way of finding out about the little details such as shift-clicking to open a new inventory window aside from reading patch notes. I really wish there was a simple guide covering the game's core mechanics that was updated with the patches. Sort of like the instruction guide that comes with a console game, but available electronically, and updated in a very timely manner.

Also, aside from the bugs that CCP knows about and are addressing, I like the new inventory system.

INVENTROY SYSTEM IS NOW USELESS AKIN TO PLAYING TOWERS OF HANOI EVERY TIME YOU WANT TO MOVE ANYTHING Shocked i tried finding a fint to match the UI experience and as wingbats is not an option endedup using CAPS

Please change back to old system or give us the option so the 2 people who actualy like it (maybe more but not sure how many relatives the dev who thought of this change has) can keep it and those that actualy play the game an actualy go back to playing the game instead of some perverted towers of hanoi game every time we wish to place the lotion into the basket.

Issue #3124: You cannot name corp hangers and SMAs even though their right click option gives you "Set Name". Instead all SMAs and corp hangers appear as the standard name when next to 20 of them in the inventory.

just so you know that I am actually trying this before rating and raving Smile

salvaging wrecks...........dbl click wreck opens window, loot all then refreshes that said window to now show contents of cargohold even if you have a seperate cargohold window open.....then when you dbl click the next wreck, it refreshes the hold window to show the wreck contents. etc etc

the problem with this is that its creating lag/a definite delay, by having to constantly update itself.

Its just something else that youve introduced which is a step backward imo, unless its a stealth nerf to stop missioners salvaging now.

I like the new missile graphics. I've only played with heavys so far (had to fly a drake of course, no changes yet) but it looks incredible. The new sounds leave a bit to be desired though. It's not exactly the sound you expect when you've just been hit by half a ton of high explosives. I can get used to it but i still prefer the screen shattering kabooms.

The unified inventory is like others have mentioned, a total nightmare. If it was a window on it's own it would be very useful but as a replacement it is an organisational train wreck. Please give us the ability to have a window for each can, ship, drone bay, etc, etc. Somehow i've managed to get station inventory to open and stay put every time i dock so at least i can grab ammo and mods but everything else opens in the same window. It's very very frustrating when your trying to work with 4 or 5 containers and a ship hold/drone bay. It's actually a good idea but, it needs alot of work to be the replacement it was indended to be.

The new wardec system looks pretty good, a full list of wars without searching was a great idea, but as someone wrote, they were able to dec thier own alliance!? There are days when i miss null sec, and today is one of them haha.

Something i noticed in the 2 missions i ran; my modules took damage! Shocked Does this mean i have to train for 18 or so days to get tactical shield manipulation up to V (well, it was almost a totally useless skill until now) or is it a permanent 'feature' of any combat?

This is totally Crazy. I have been playing eve since early 2005 and altough I understand the reasons for most of the changes over the years I think the new hanger access system is more confusing than the multiple window mode.

I mean, converting the Drone interfacing skill from extra drones to more damage certainly helped Lag in big battles, and moving large amounts of agents about helped reduce lag again in trade systems, but from my own point of view the new system has a few flaws which once you become a little more than a 14 day noob become apparent.

Firstly I have an industrial alt and he builds ALOT. All he does all day is sit with 9 windows/hangers open and move materials from hanger to hanger to mass produce T2 T3 and Capitals. I understand that this seems over the top but for most this is not unusual as it seems. People who build most of the modules and ships you guys buy from the trade hubs do this because they need to build using several methods, move the completed modules/materials to another window for the next stage. The new hanger system means materials can go missing when materials are dropped in to the incorrect hanger/window and if you are not a director like myself then in alot of cases you cant get it back. Another problem is I cant see how much of something to move if i am only moving precise amounts about. Since the new system started I have had to create a new directory in my computer to save screen shots and open the photos to remind myself what is in each hanger.

I understand that the new system is technically easier to navigate but from an experienced players point of view this new method is more trouble that the effort used to create it. Instead of a few mins to deliver completed jobs, move materials about then set the new jobs running, it has taken me over 40 mins.

I think since all the work went in to this new system I can only suggest 2 things. The first is taken from Microsoft windows where you can open multiple windows with the new system down the left. This would them mean everyone wins, the older players have a more flexable system and the new players get a more gentle on the eye system. The second suggestion is like the station enviroment where people can select which method is used. Oviously I have no real understanding of the programming needed to complete this but since both are available maybe this would solve the problem.

BUT to reitterate the new hanger/Inventory system is definatly NOT player friendly.
