What would cause the overview to do this?

On jumping through a stargate the other day the Eve client took a long time and when I landed the other side my overview was corrupted and showing some very strange data. This was fixed by jumping back though the gate but I was wondering what would be making this happen. It has only happened to me twice in the last few weeks. It looks like the data to populate it has some how got corrupted and then in turn been miss interpreted when using it to fill the overview grid.

If I was to warp to the bounty would I receive it?

Maybe some checking routine needs to implmented in code to ensure the data is correct before populating and if it isn't then the data is requested again? Just a suggestion.

Interesting. If you can catch that with our logserver tool, then I am sure our bug hunters would love to get their hands on that logserver log.

Until then, it usually should be enough to double click on the overview title bar twice (to collapse and expand the overview window) in order to make it reload. Should be easier than jumping back and forth.

Thanks I didn't know about the collapse and expand trick that will be useful if this happens again. I would love to be able to provide a logserver log for it but I have only had this happen to me twice in the last few weeks so it is a pretty rare event. I have only seen one other person post a thread in this section of the forum who had a picture of a similar thing.

Maybe it is because my PC is old and this overview data is getting cached to my harddisk but the harddisk is somehow taking too long to read it back or it got corrupted when it was read back into the overview? Not knowing how the overview data is retreived it is pretty hard to speculate what may or may not be causing this. Maybe if it is read straight off the server it was a packet loss that caused this?

Well it happened again, I know it does not happen often but still wish I knew what was making this happen.

I would not rule out a physical memory failure in your graphics card memory or RAM. I used to test computer hardware as a full time job for about 10 years and thats what the second picture looks like to me. Ever so slightly fauly memory.

I am pretty sure its not the computer memory it is a resonable make Corsair that and I have run tests on it using MemTest86 and MS Windows Memory Diagnostic and it checked out fine. As for the memory on the graphics card though that I have not tested I will look into doing that. This problem only happens say once every few weeks if that really just wish I knew what was making it happen thats all so thanks for the suggestions.
