hi,

I dont normally bother much with ship insurance but with the prices of hulls these days I though I would.

Now I seem to remember back in the "lets blow a million insured hulls up and make a profit" days that CCP stated that insurance would "track mineral cost much closer." This has plainly not happened.

Not doing anything else about this worked great while prices were decreasing but now prices hae rocketed up it becomes plain that the "tracking mineral costs" part never made it into game.

same old same old?

Insurance? When HIC blow up and they paid for platinum less then ship cost it was last time i even bothered with insurance. More of a joke then a feature. However i remember times when that thing actually worked. Which pisses me off even more to see current state of it. But you know... more blowups less subscriptions. Greed is not good.

You do know that all T2 ships can only be insured to the value of the T1 hull right ?

That i didn't knew. Still i liked Incursions expansion insurance. It was way more reasonable and not a total joke that it is now.

Edit: At least back then when you got blown up you could get something similar and not be thrown into Catalyst at best with these "insurance" prices.

To be fair, they never really made it clear what indices they were tracking and how often they updated them…

If it's some kind of three-month weighted cluster-wide average, it'll still be a while before they start to climb and they most certainly will never seem to have any correlation with the Jita prices. P

Well… to the T1 hull cost + a (still tiny) modifier depending on what kind of ship class it is. Some of the T2 frigates get a higher percentage than popular T2 cruisers, for instance.

I think last time I checked a LONG time ago they were willing to give me a little over a quarter of the price I paid for my Nighthawk for insurance, wasn't worth it and I doubt it will ever be for me.

T2 = T1 Hull pricing of minerals to build the hull...

T1 = weighted average pricing i believe region wide in the region of insurance creation... though how long the averaging is they have never said oddly maybe since forever? lol

It's impossible to have a free market without some sort of insurance. The ship insurance isn't really insurance, since there is no pooling of risk. The premiums and the payouts are irrational.

Don't expect CCP to fix this anytime soon.

Tears will be shed and pants will need to be changed all round.
