Question for CCP DEV or GM - How long do these new Forum Threads stay active?

I had originally asked this question in the sub forum - EVE General Discussion. Due to the rapid turnover and amount of threads being posted in that forum sub section, I decided to ask it here again with the hope of getting CCP's attention.

This is it:

I've seen a lot of threads in various sub forums locked with the last posted reply dated about 3 weeks ago. I'm not talking about threads locked by a GM due to 'Lack Of Content' or 'Double Posting', etc.

I don't remember ever seeing any mention of 'Thread Life' listed in Dev Blogs about these new Forums. In the old Forums, threads had a shelf life of 3 months from the date of the last posted reply before being locked due to inactivity.

Any chance of getting an Official statement from CCP DEV or GM about 'Thread Life' here in the new Forums?

Like this thread for example. If nobody posts a reply in it, how long will it be accessible before being locked due to inactivity?

P.S.
Please fix the new Forums to retain the text that is currently being written. Sometimes when posting a new thread or writing a reply, especially if switching between browser tabs, all the written work will vanish after selecting 'Preview' or 'Post'. This creates a lot of frustration and discouragement.

Currently the "expiration timer" is set to 21 days, but it is going to be changed to 90, same as it was on the old forums. In the meantime, if you want a thread reopened, please file a petition or use the forum report function and we'll open it for you.

CCP Spitfire,

Thank you very much for the quick reply. It's good to see that. However, your reply brings up a few more questions which I hope you can answer.

Can you give us an approximate time frame of when we can expect this change to happen? Such as soon, within the next couple of months or later, sometime next year?

Will there be an Official Posting to inform us when the "expiration timer" change happens? Such as a Dev Blog, Patch Notes, News Release, etc.?

Does this option pertain only to the Original Poster of the thread or can anyone do it?

Will this option only be available within 90 days after the last posted reply date or will it remain in effect until the "expiration timer" change is applied to the Forums?

Sorry to bother you with all these questions. Thank you once again for the quick reply.

Some quick answers to your questions, DMC :)

Can you give us an approximate time frame of when we can expect this change to happen? Such as soon, within the next couple of months or later, sometime next year?

This week, possibly as soon as tomorrow. I will follow up with Guard, who is Community's stakeholder rep with Cut Offs to ensure that this is done as soon as possible if it's not done by tomorrow.

Will there be an Official Posting to inform us when the "expiration timer" change happens? Such as a Dev Blog, Patch Notes, News Release, etc.?

Most likely not, as this is just a settings toggle :)

Does this option pertain only to the Original Poster of the thread or can anyone do it?

Anyone. In addition to reporting and petitioning, I am personally accepting EVE Mails (however, that will cost players ISK) and Twitter :D

CCP Fallout,

Thank you very much for the answers. That is indeed excellent news.

I gotta say I'm impressed with the quick response time from you guys.

I kinda figured this sub forum - EVE New Citizens Q&A - would generate a timely reply but nonetheless I'm still impressed.

Shocked

Normally I just post a reply or two in a few threads throughout these sub forums. Actually, due to the 21 day 'premature' locking of various threads, I'll take you up on the EVE Mail offer (depending on the CSPA charge) and send you a small list of threads to reopen. My list should be ready within a week or so.

Blink

Thanks again,
