Where are the NPC convoys?

I've been in a Minmatar FW system for a full hour, orbiting the Caldari station, waiting to kill any incoming NPC convoys from the Minmatar Research Station that's also in this system. I'm zoomed out, overview's set to All. And... nothing. Absolutely nothing.


  1. Do these convoys still exist?
  2. How frequently do convoys spawn?
  3. Do they spawn in lowsec?
  4. Do they spawn in FW lowsec?
  5. Would they not travel between Minmatar<>Caldari stations?
  6. For what other reasons would I never see a convoy?


Fresh (as opposed to stale) information, please.

Yes, they are still around. Plenty where i am at the moment Smile

Thanks for answering question #1. So, there are convoys in highsec. Can anyone answer any of the rest of the questions?

The link gives plenty of advice on how to kill convoys, but I can experiment with that if I ever find one.

why would you never see them?

Easy enough. Most players have such ship types turned off on their overview. I've seen plenty of them around stations in highsec - usually by mousing over NPC ships near the stations.

Try Overview Settings -> Filter -> Entity -> Convoy -- and convoy drones. Make sure they are checked.

That guide is pretty decent for how to pick them. Any station in a given system will send a covoy to any other station in that system so yes, cross-faction convoys can happen.

They aren't really high-profit hits and the chances of an "oops" - rarely done these days.

As a reminder, although the original post seems pretty readable to me, these are the questions:


  1. Do these convoys still exist? -- Yes, they do: mogwai and Mocam have seen them in highsec
  2. How frequently do convoys spawn?
  3. Do they spawn in lowsec?
  4. Do they spawn in FW lowsec?
  5. Would they not travel between Minmatar<>Caldari stations? -- Mocom says they don't care.
  6. For what other reasons would I never see a convoy?


The rest remain unanswered.

And I -- again, the text doesn't seem blurred or censored or anything on my screen -- have this to offer: I orbited a lowsec station in Minmatar FW space for a full hour, overview set to show absolutely everything, and I saw no convoys. Has anyone seen these convoys?

ive never seen convoys in lowsec ever. dont know the spawn rate, and yes in systems they travel betwen amarr <>caldari stations, caldari <> minmatar and so forth

I've never heard of or seen them in low sec either.

The guide states this:

That would indicate they only spawn in high security systems.

I see them all the time in .5 .6

They are in Null also they have haulers in 0.0 systems even without a station you can run into them. Generally carry massive amounts of minerals.

Thinking seven years back, I have never seen a NPC station hauler in low sec (opposed to those encountered in asteroid belts).

I have never seen one in Low Sec but as Spineker has said they do spawn in null with huge amounts of ore once killed. I have seen quite a few in null with small to medium escorts.

The problem with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and putting things in it.
