what you are missing is that blocking you instead of telling you upfront that you got scammed will make most recruits contact another goon "recruiter" - who then recognizes that the security deposit was insufficient or that the previous recruiter was a scammer and stole the deposit.

Because he doesn't feel good about making you pay twice, because the other recruiter being a scumbag is not really your fault and because he cares about the good name of his alliance the second recruiter might even offer to pay part of the new (higher) deposit out of his own pocket (or offer you a sweet deal that involves paying some head recruiter to look the other way).

Stopping contact without a word gives another goon the chance to pick up the remaining crumbs (and maybe you might be desperate enough to restock your wallet with a PLEX or two, stranger things have happened).
