It is well known that biggest money are made from someone misery – look the bankers – and so is CCP and that is why they allow some kind of players behavior that in the real world would not get unprosecuted in some way.

More the mess in space, more money CCP make, players with double personalities get what they want and the rest try to get by. Those things will not change no matter what and posting about main business in EVE – killing for pleasure (and for some ISK in the meantime) – will get you only mockery.

So, it’s not worth it.

Cause the only time that I recall CCP stepping in to stop people from disrupting the activities of Hisec was when m0o's camp of Mara/Passari, and that came in the form of camp-busting devhax, not bans. And even then, nobody liked the idea of CCP messing with player created content like that (in a multiplayer sandbox, any interaction between players is content).

Zombie attack on Yulai. They weren't immediately banned they got warnings then ignored those warnings. 'Least that's how I remember the story.

I can't find much information on that, but wasn't the primary reason for CCP's intervention the crippling lag it was causing?

Here we go again with a psychology degree gained from reading the back of a cereal box. If you're not living in peace, love and harmony and being every so nice to everyone and instead enjoy the aspects of the game that involved shooting people, you have a mental disorder.

Some people do seem to take pixel spaceships a bit too seriously, oh, my apologies, I forgot it's serious bizness.

WoW holds your hand until end game, and gives you a cookie whether you win or lose. EVE not only takes your cookie, but laughs at you for bringing one in the first place...

What if I like shooting people in a game? Can I go to a game that explicitly endorses and encourages that behavior to have my pleasure? Maybe one set in a far off Galaxy where everyone's immortal, so death has less meaning?

He is talking about having freedom to play the game his way, you are talking about having power over his playstyle.

Ok let me clear this up right now:

None of us are playing "our game". We are all playing CCP's GAME!!!!!!

I can't stress that enough. We are playing CCP's Game how they intended it to be. It is not my game, it is not your game, neither of our professions are "The Way It's Meant To Be Played" because they're ALL meant to be played. They are also not Mutually Exclusive, either.

CCP gives us the tools, and says "Go have fun". Some peoples' fun isn't the same as others, and they conflict. That's just the way it is, and this isn't really your game, nor my game, we're both playing in the sandbox CCP made.

CCP are not a single unified entity with a specific coherent vision for their game, they are a company driven by profit and often run by people with no interest in the game beyond what they perceive as having the greatest chance to increase subscriber numbers.

Sometimes this leads to bad decision making, see Incarna for details.

It is not wrong of us to argue our points concerning how the game should be designed, we may very well not be listened to but discussing the pros and cons of specific game design philosophies is interesting all the same. And, with any luck CCP may even listen to some of us on occasion.

They certainly seem to have done so recently with the introduction of crucible, and inferno looks to be going in the right direction as well. Having a vocal community, and listening to them, is not a bad thing and should not be discouraged.

Yes, absolutely. However, people who say "mining is bad" or "ganking is bad" or anything like that are not seeing it as such.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

I try it again, this time in mirror, "X-O-B-D-N-A-S".

Just curious, which sandbox did you play in when you were a kid that the other kids got to hit you on the head with their shovels? Not saying it might not have been fun for the shovel-wielders, but it would make for a crappy sandbox.

Perhaps a new metaphor would be in order.

If you look closely at EVE, and most playground sand boxes as well, you'll notice all the kids have shovels and greatly enjoy whacking each other with them. The only difference in EVE is that it's not something you have to do behind your parents back.

Don't like eve? Quit! (can i have your stuff?)

Don't like CCP "forcing you out to null/0.0 sec"?

Don't go, or go in a wormhole or something

Don't like people blowing up your stuff?

Don't undock

Don't like people kicking over your sandcastle?

Get out of the sandbox

Don't like taking risk to get a reward?

Live without rewards

CCP has proven that the only thing they listen to is subscription numbers (incarna realease fiasco). If what's going on right now pisses you off, unsub for a while and see if CCP reacts. Vote with your wallet. If you've been prevented from playing the way you like to play, why play?

If I mind read him correctly, his issue is NOT about how EvE is right now.

He believes that the constant, never ending hammering off 0.0 players (tbh I rarely see low seccers posting about this) to REMOVE whole hi sec features to FORCE players to play how they DEMAND the game to become.

I don't shoot people in real life you know, people do it in games because it's simply pixels and nobody really dies or gets hurt unless they're somehow confused that it really means something. I strongly suggest you try and separate the real life stuff from the pixels a bit more, that comment about Afghanistan just makes you look a bit pathetic.

EVE is a game about shooting people, can't deal with it, not out problem.
