It does seem one could just use a cov ops frig.

The advantage of shuttles, is they are small and can often be taken in the cargo of another ship

So I suppose you could take a BC/BS out somewhere, dock up at a station, and use this shuttle to make runs/scout, without having to buy another ship on the spot, or have one brought to you.

This is Trollin's first idea that I think might actually be "fun"

I like it, call it "The Observer", cause besides watching, you can't do much.

I would also suggest +2 warp str, like a blockade runner, and kill the cargo bay. If you wanna move things, I think you need to have risk exposure.

In my opinion this should be good at moving the pilot, and just the pilot, if it's a shuttle.

However a cloak is what 100 m3 if I remember rightly, in order to maintain the ships size I would reduce the cargo bay maybe down to 5 m3 or even lower so its only viable for maybe 1 mod / bit of salvage / skill books and the like.

There's already a shuttle with a special role (Zephyr), so I welcome the idea. Like a Zephyr, it could use a special covert ops cloak that couldn't be fitted to any other ship and should require minimal skills to fly.

Workarounds are not bugfixes.

Even trolls can sometimes come up with good, of at least half-decent ideas - whether they are actually being serious or just bad at trolling becomes rather irrelevant then.

With a covOps shuttle we could also get rid of the jumpclones, because all you need to get your pilots around quickly is a black ops Big smile

Tech2 Shuttle: should be able to warp closer to the stargate by using the autopilot. Instead of landing 15 km away you should get at 5km, depending on skills.

No, this tries to make an already filled role with another, cheaper ship. CovOps frigates already do what this would be used for.

Fit a covert ops frigate well enough and it warps as fast as a shuttle, has larger cargo and cloaks.

so, NO to the idea.

Oh, did I mention that a shuttle only warps at 6.0au/s, and a Covert Ops Frigate warps at 13.5au/s?
