Why does insurance not scale due to pricing of the market?

most T1 ships, unless you make them, insurance doesnt even cover but a little over half the value.

I believe the insurance should scale based off the price you pay for a ship, unless made by yourself which then should be a standard setup.

Because insurance payouts are an isk faucet and there is already too much easy isk entering the economy. Yes new players have a hard time understanding that ship destruction actually adds isk to the economy, but it does.

Yet again seeing mining for yourself as "free" minerals...
What makes the ship you built different than a market ship when it comes to time and effort?

Oh look, someone else who thinks the minerals you mine are free. Carry on Doris.

WoW holds your hand until end game, and gives you a cookie whether you win or lose. EVE not only takes your cookie, but laughs at you for bringing one in the first place...

It doesn't scale 'cause CCP said it would, so it doesn't. Why do you think? Geez.

Get with the program!

The right to free speech doesn't automatically carry with it the right to be taken seriously.

LOL. You are right, of course.

All I'm really thinking about right now is that my Diablo 3 install is at 60% and Battle.net goes live in five hours. My posts are going to be as scatterbrained as Malcanis tonight.

Yep if they were to make it so that insurence paid to the ganked is paid by the gankee, just like insurence does in real life. Then boy would there be tears. Actually I think I might suggest this to devs for lulz

I think the better question is why does insurance exist at all? Who the heck would insure combat ships? The Secure Commerce Commission must be the most unprofitable business ever .

Think of that in reverse.

Misterdastardlypirate ganks my hulk

I get insurance payout of 200mil (never lost a hulk so no idea what the payout is)
Insurance company then removes 200mil from Misterdastardlypirate's wallet

If he goes negative he get some form of nasty penalty to.

I as the miner dont get anything extra I still only get insurance, Misterdastardlypirate has to pick his targets even more carefully

Greetings capsuleer,

You are proposing a system that will lead to a massive increase in vat grown capsuleers, released into New Eden with only a few tattered shreds of the training they require.

Moreover, how will the Secure Commerce Commission reclaim their funds from a pirate? Knock on his door for a cup of tea, some crumpets and a cheque?

Regards,

Because there would be mass tears from the gankers on the forums and they are almost as good as goon tears
