Losing sigs left and right.

I haven't played in a little while and I heard that ccp added new DED sites and changed some of the loot. So I decided to try scanning a bit. I've been using my Myrmidon for scanning as I always have and never had a problem locking down sites with 67.8 points Base Sensor Strength on my probes. But lately, since I came back, I've been losing sigs around 1.00 ~ 0.50 AU like crazy, was there any changes to scanning that I'm not aware of?

Check your filters. Once you get close enough to identify the site and a site doesn't match your filter the site will disappear from your results.

This would normally be my advice too. But if you're getting to 1-0.5 AU, you should be locking them completely, not just hitting 25%.

How many probes are you using and how is your probe deviation skill?

All my probing skills are at 4, with the exception of Astrometics that is at 5.

I'll take a look at the filters, thanks for the tip.

Edit: I was missing Gravimetric, Ladar, Magnetometric and Cosmic Anomaly in my filter settings. The sites that continued to disappear might have been one of those.

These filters are the most useless thing ever. Why would anyone in clear mind want to have them on? If you are not interested in some sort of sites you just ignore them in the results. But if those sites disappear even before you know their type no way to tell whether you missed with the probe setup or that's one of those censored site types.

I usually scan very agressively - I almost always skip two scan ranges, sometimes three when I am focusing on a sig. I do have pretty good skills/equipment so in 99% I don't lose the signal. Sometimes it happens though. Why in the life of god I would want those filters to be ever enabled for anything? How would I know that the signal I just lost was a nice 4/10 that I missed or a freakn grav site I don't care about?

Not to mention all these confused people on forums. How many threads like this we've had so far?

I dont know about you, but I use them to scan down enemy assets like a certain class ship/filtering out poses and pos mods.

Just because you don't use it for PVE doesn't mean it is useless.

Indeed. I use filters a lot too. Just because you don't understand something doesn't make it bad.

Hunting mission botters. Shut off all but BS and Elite BS, win.

There are tons of reasons why filters come in useful. Open yer mind to the possibilities.
