If you can't figure that one out for yourself in about 10 secs, you should find an easier game to play.... like angry birds or some such.

There's more to it than just herp derp what's the market price. There's also the frequency of ice in high sec which would affect how much you could collect. I'm sure there are other factors that as a person whom has never mined before I might not be considering. So before I go and waste precious training time I figured I would ask those with more experience than I. But I thank you for your constructive feedback.

You might get a better response in the General forums for new players. Or talk/join with EvE University.. they have seasoned people who would guide you in the right direction. Even joining one of the mining corps advertised.. they could help you out a lot.
Or even try google. There are so many variables to give you an answer. We dont know your skillsets, your refine skills, etc.
Sorry for the wall of text :)

Sorry we are all being so catty.

TBH, it's rather an awkward thing to ask right now. Try after May 29.

1) Use Google to find out how much Ice is in each Ice Belt.
2) Realize that mining is not a complex subject. It is:

  1. Look up pricing to determine Isk/hr
  2. Pres F1-3 on the best roids/Ice around (for Ice the process is different, you pres F1-2 only)
  3. ???????
  4. Profit!

If you find an Ice Belt, you're good. Ice doesn't really deplete. That's why it gets botted like a mofo. Find a rock, pull the ice harvester trigger, and sit back (preferably watching local to get a good idea when to jump to avoid a gank).

I would say ore.

Ice has two things going against it:
Ice belts are fewer and far between, and gankers looking for ice miners know exactly where to find them.

To maximize your profits, look for standing buy orders of ore with good prices and mine in those systems.

In the cat-and-mouse game that is low sec, there is no shame in learning to be a better mouse.

if you are serious about making a profit from mining invest in refining your own ore and haul it to a location where you can make a profit. I would not suggest mining either ore or ice if you lack the necessary skills to sell it properly. Also you can easily find out the highest isk per m3 with cerlests' ore table.

This entire thread is moot if you aren't scouting missions that don't require a full completion and have lots of ore. *hint* make an alt that can run the VERY first missions they give you and mine them without blowing up any outposts.
