Client Flicker - hard crash

I will try to put as much information down as possible.

I am deployed in afghanistan. I had my brother mail me the eve installer on a 8 gm thumb drive. The game installed fine. I booted it up and it updated the launcher a few times and said I was ready to play. I could see the server as green.

When I click the play button on the launcher, my screen flickers four or five times. i lose my mouse. CTL ALT DEL only takes me to a black screen, and i cant get to the task manager. Did this 3 times

System Specs

Core i7
Windows 7
Radeon HD 6700
8 GB RAM

I updated my drivers about a month ago and was good when I left. I have slow internet, but i wouldnt think that would make me crash like this.

I have tried all my basic troubleshooting, not sure what else to do. Any help would be appreciated. I have never played EVE on this exact laptop before.

After it flickers several times try pressing ALT+ENTER to go into window mode this happens to me and a lot of other people mainly people with HP laptops we can only play in window mode and performance is terrible.

Here is an update:

I used the repair tool that eve comes with this morning. It said it fixed my client. Afterwards I was able to log in. I played for about a half hour and then the game crashed with really strange color distortion.

Since then - I have had the same problems as before. Even after i repair, i still flicker and hard crash.

Thanks for the reply. I do have an HP laptop. One of their newer ones. I tried pressing ALT ENTER and it did seem to change my mouse cursor, and the computer was a little mor responsive, but in the end it still crashed.

I am still at a loss...My video card drivers are updated

Yeah seems to be a HP issue... I also have a newer model hp and reading the other threads who are having similar problems they also have a newer type I5/I7 Based with the switchable graphics.

Maybe its a problem with eve and the switchable graphics in the HP models?

I run my laptop in fixed mode as its the only way that eve will use the AMD card but maybe I should of taken that as a bad sign.
