The corp that I am in at the moment just moved to 0.0 space. I started ratting in an armor tanked Tempest, but I am not doing very well. Low damage, low tank and small range. I only have about 7 mil skill points. I can only use t1 guns and I am 7 days away from t2 armor tanking. Can you guys recommend a different ship or fitting? I am suing specific ammo and hardeners.

You -could- be flying battleships properly, but with 7 mil SP your training would need to be very focused.

Could you post your fitting and upload your skills to eveboard? A properly skilled/fitted Tempest should rat just fine.

use 1 repper, 1 em hardener, 2 thermic, and then fit 2 gyrostabilizers. Also be aware smaller ships will take less damage because your guns have a hard time hitting them.

i dunno why but in a minmatar ship I think cap stability is overrated.

I'd personally take the above advice to get the gyro's on there. Then I'd ditch all the cap rechargers for 3x tracking computer II's scripted for optimal and a heavy cap booster with cap booster 800s. You don't need the rep running all the time.

-most blood raider NPC battle ships like 15km orbits, and 40km orbits.

-Without the tracking computers you're looking at doing 80%of max turret dps out to 15km, then once you're at 27km your dps drops to 40%...

-With the tracking computers you should be doing 80% of your max turret DPS at 27km, and 40% at 50km...

Then you can swap rigs for a large projectile burst aerator I rig (might have power grid issues with your skill for this one), and 2x large auxiliary nano pumps for some extra tank.

i'd also train large projectile turrets up past rank 1 asap.

First off decide what type of ratting do you want to do. For anomalies tempest is sub-par, but for belt ratting it's one of the better choises.

Belt ratter armor fit:

- tank with large armor repper, em hardener, thermic hardener
- speed tank with afterburner, the better you have the better the ship fares since on a tempest you'll mitigate incoming BS fire completely. a damage control / nanofiber might be useful too.
- rest of low slots gyrostabilizers, 2 or 3 tracking computers, AC 800's
- optimal setup is 1 range script computer, 2 unscripted
- if you want extra cap stability, you can drop the launchers for a nosferatu + utility slot (i'd go with neut to escape pvp tackle)

Usage:

- burn close to the rats, 10km is your sweet point vs battleships. choose your transversal (approach / orbit / keep at range / manual) depending on how much damage is incoming: if you're taking heavy fire, orbit with high transversal, otherwise stay still to score better hits

Interesting thread. How about a plexing ship (7/10 - 8/10)?

I'm minmatar too. I have more than 7m SP, more like 35m including minmatar bs 5.

tried the tempest with 3 gyros and 3 tracking computers, a bit hard to tank, better on damage I deal tho. I'll raise money and go for a shielded maelstrom, see how that goes.

stick with 800mm, higher tracking, more dps.... you will proberly have problems with the frigates more than already if you switch to arty

8/10 needs at least 500dps tank if you speed tank.

More if you stand still.

For plexes use a loki to tank, they have awesome em/therm resists.
For regular ratting i dont like cap boosters and a lot of people dont, i can recommend my current fit if you want to try without because it is cap stable with the AB off.

I want to be able to get into a Blood Raider Forsaken Hubs and get 12mil isk ticks, I've seen and abbadon that can do this by just staying in the middle of them and nuking them.

this is the fit. It can tank 500+DPS and can to 800-1000 DPS. I need the minmatar version of this without a heavy cap booster. This is cap stable without one.

the gist c-type booster is the only dead space and it is very cheap considering you live in 0.0.

What he said. At 1k dps you can burn down anything and everything around you. And if your tank is hurting you can always warp out. BTW do not fly a ship like this without the drone skills to kill scraming frigs.

Something clever
