Rank scaled bonuses for Navy ships- FW

So after reading a dev blog about the proposed changes coming to the loyalty point system, I took some time and browsed through the LP store. I still diddnt see much of a reason to use the navy ships and that got me thinking...

Why would the navy supply capsuleer's with faction ships? I would think that they understand we are fighting for them and they also understand that they would want to help us get into ships for a reduced rate but also ships that have a use against their factional enemy.

It sounds like the changes to the LP store will make the ships abit more affordable, but I still dont see much of a reason to use the navy ships. I can fly t2 that are better.

And ranks are kind of pointless.

So what if every 'Navy' class starship was wetwired for capsuleer's fighting for that faction and had a Rank Special Ability ontop of the normal ship bonuses. For instance a Megathron would have all its normal stats if you are outside of Faction Warfare. But if you are involved in FW the Megathron would have a 2.5% damage bonus per rank against any Caldari Starship PC or NPC.

It would make me want to fly a Navy ship and it would make me want to make sure I was at the highest rank possible for the max damage bonus. I dont think it would upset things very much this way, as you lose rank and therefore the special rank ability if you leave FW.

It would be nice to see the Omen Navy Issue become something more than the 'Poor Mans Zealot' or see Caldari Navy Raven's used outside of mission hubs.

Anyway I may be not catching some major flaw and this would never work, but thats why I posted here!

Thanks for reading- Jenna

I have a question...

Why do some LP items require dog tags that you don't typically even get from running missions for that faction???

Kinda confusing.

My suggestion on this part of the LP store would be to actually make them require tags that actually get dropped in missions.

Since one of the big gripes seems to be EWAR, maybe the faction ships could have a per-rank resistance to EWAR by the opposing faction? And maybe half that to EWAR of an indirectly opposed faction (Gallente/Amarr, Minmatar/Caldari)?

The main problem I can see with that is that the various forms of EWAR aren't terribly well balanced, but they should be balanced, and maybe this would be an incentive to do so.

Absolutely, I was using a damage bonus as an example, but any kind of racial specific bonus would be great.
Bonuses to shield/armor resistances, sensor strength, ewar ranges etc would be wonderful if they were racial enemy specific

I like it. I'm just imagining potential issues in server latency when trying to distinguish a bonus target vs a regular target. It wouldn't be fair to have a navy mega doing more damage against people not in FW. So you would need to distinguish between cal pilots in FW and cal pilots not in FW on each hit, which might be a problem.
