eve marketing suggestion for ccp

It seems to me that eve is loosing players. Which is a shame because it's a great game. Anyways I was thinking ccp is missing a trick with their marketing. I remember when I was a newb one of the most awesome impressions I got of eve was approaching station in Amarr or Jita and seeing such a variety of ships flying past every second, and thinking there's another pilot just like me in each of them. At the time most of the ships were new to me, and seeing a marauder made my day.

Anyways ccp release some nice videos but they are staged. And I've seen eve banner ads on a few websites, but they tell you nothing of the game.

So ccp my suggestion is you work out how to provide a live feed on your website to a point off jita and amarr stations, and maybe some other places too. I'm not a programmer but I can't imagine it is too difficult. Doing so would show a visitor the wonder of the eve universe, and showcase eve's strengths - the diversity of players and starships and their various activities. I don't believe there's another mmo out there that can compete with eve as far as spaceship gameplay goes.

You could anchor a structure off each station and call them customs monitoring posts or galnet media post or something, and record from that viewpoint using a modified client for each (just don't show Jita local chat - that rubbish would put anyone off).

Just a suggestion, but I think it would be impressive, well received, and differentiate eve from everything else out there. Take the various fantasy games, screenshots of them tend to show pretty much the same thing regardless of game: a couple or warriors and a man in a dress fighting a goblin or skeleton or something.

They don't even have to do anything special, they did this last year during Alliance Tournament 8 using a dev hacked cloaked ship

Someone opened a covert jump bridge when they did the Rens cam XD

But ya they had Jita cam and Amarr cam and Dodixie cam

I think also they should do some marketing that showcases different playstyles in EVE... there really is something for almost everyone here, but I feel like most of the appeal is to either simplistic power-fantasies ("you are a demigod") or the glee of blowing up internet spaceships. There's a lot more potential to reach explorer, social and builder-type players.

However the feeling of danger should not be downplayed, people need to know what they are getting into (a world dominated by shameless scammers, giddy griefers, and anarchistic asshats) or they may quit their first week in frustration.

I wonder how long it would be before someone worked out the camera angle and parked their freighter/orca/wingy bit in the way so all you could see is the side of their ship?

I give it 5 mins, mainly cos i would try it too...

Don't we have the recent Jita & co cams on youtube? I know they found the cam at Jita pretty quick at atleast one of the ATs wich resulted in us seeing the inside of more than one ship. A lot of disco fits and other flashy stuff also happened.
It's not a bad ide as i would probably watch too but i wonder if it would work since it would get a lot of attention from people like Ventris... and me.

And this wouldn't really show a realistic everyday view of EVE but rather a; "oh, look a camera! I'm on TV! Lets go crazy!" or "can i blow it up?"
Would probably giva an acurate picture of some of the eve playerbase but wouldn't give you that "diversity of players and starships and their various activities" as they would all try to find/bomb the camera...

If you're lucky they would get tired of the camera at some point. But don't bet on it.
