Been away for 2 year - need to run lvl 4s

Hey all.

Just returned after 2 years away from Eve. I used to run missions in Minmatar space with a CNR. I haven't checked the fitting on it, but I am pretty sure it's a passive shield tank (just upped the passive shield recharge rate and resistances)

As far as ships go, skills aren't a huge issue for me, I have 60 million SP or so, but money is. I have about 85 mil to my name. Looks like I'll be in the CNR for a little while.

Is CNR still a good ship to run lvl 4s? Have any game changes made the passive shield tank less effective? Have level 4s changed much?

Any advice you can give would be appreciated - thanks.

Do not passive/buffer tank your CNR. Like most other BS size vessels, you want to active tank. Check Battleclinic for massive amounts of cookie cutter PvE L4 fits.

Yes, the CNR excels at L4 mission running.

Yup, I can confirm that the CNR is still a solid missionboat. Just don't use a passive tank. Deadspace SB is recommended (Gist C - Xlarge is brilliant).

If you can't afford that, use a T2 with one amp and 4 hardners ( for dps - heavy missions ), 2 Rigor-rigs and a CCC.

in angel space, you will probably get away with 2x explosive hardener and 1x invul. buy a T2 XL booster and a boost amplifier and you should be fine. also, in case you forgot, use light drones to kill frigates. rigor rigs and a target painter help apply dps to cruiser sized targets. once you are rich again, consider switching to tengu. it has the same dps as a CNR but is faster, more agile and versatile.

I should buy an Ishtar.

T2 CNR, rigorously tested, one of the most reliable mission boats out there, I've never had to turn anything down cause this ship couldn't take it.

IMO you shouldn't meta the shield booster, it is basically the crux of your tank and T2 boosts 60 more raw shield for the same cap/cycle time, and all you gained from that is a DCU and a nano (lol), if you want to drop the co-processor, the best way to do it is use a Domination X-Large Shield Booster which is identical to T2 except frees up alot less cpu and has a shorter cycle time, pretty cheap too. Or Dread Guristas X-Large if you want to spend a little more but it's better than T2.

If you're contemplating a faction booster, I'd just go ahead and upgrade to a Pith C-type XL. They really aren't that expensive and provide a substantial boost to your overall tank. Also, why in the world do you have a nano on your CNR but you don't even Ughhave an afterburner fitted?
