How to speed up a maelstrom?

Hey guys,
I currently intend to use te following fitting for L4s. What bothers me is the slow movement speed, with just above 110m/s. What midslot might be dispensable for an AB, if any at all?

use 800s instead of arty imo, then you can use tracking enhancers instead of PDUs and scratch the tracking computer for an AB. if you want to stick to arties, i would probably miss the boost amplifier least, provided you can stay at range.

I should buy an Ishtar.

drop the arties and go 800mm autos drop the PDS and go tracking in the lows that will allow you to pop frigs in a volley or two,

drop the invul and add another specific hardner the specific hardners use less cap and will provide a better EHP against the specific rat types

drop the LSB for a XLSB you should pulse this mod as u need health

if you want more speed drop the mid tracking enhancer for a AB but with the AUTOS u should be able to hit rats at 60ish km with t1 guns

rigs look fine for cap

the speed is mostly to travel between gates(world collide ect.), staying at range might take me even further away from them.
The invul is superior to another expl hardener against angels, for which these hardeners were choosen.

the arty fitting has a tracking of 0.017, the 800 ac would have 0.068. The sustained tank would be higher on the arty as well.

I'm not sure what you're getting at with this statement.

You prefer arties because they track less?

that was bad spelling on my side then. It was more a question as to how much worse the artys tracking is, compared to the acs.

While this is true, the Kin hardener is a mistake for Angels. I've played around a lot and found Invul, Exp, Invul to be the best hardeners for Angels.

I'll also echo what others have said, drop the arty for ACs, drop the PDUs for TEs, drop the LSB for an XLSB, and (if you feel you must) drop the SBA (or maybe TE if you want lots of tank) for an AB.

Change LSB for XLSB, get rid of the boost amp. Fit an aft.

Anyway, the best thing you can do is just set course to the gate as soon as you get into the room while shooting stuff. By the time you have finished you will be near the gate at standard speed.

For the OP, unfortunately, an effective Mael is a slow Mael. AKA "The Brick."

Keep at it though as it is a very effective PVE BS. And eventually switch to a (very fast) Mach.

I would listen to the others and fit it with the AB, I fly a Nighthawk with I consider slow and a AB does wonders in making missions all that much less painful. In fact a AB on any ship makes missions a lot more barable, I just wished i learned that in the begining it would have saved me a lot of time and headaches.

I am very partial to this setup. Yes, it has Tech II rigs on it. Why? I don't know. It would work with T1 CCC rigs. It was on contracts for about 300m so I bought it. I found it very effective in L4 missions. It has enough cap to work for L4 missions. With my skills and implants I get 801 turret DPS. It tanks 682 against Angels. You can also downgrade to T2 Gyrostabilizers if you want to save some more ISK:

To me, an Afterburner is absolutely essential for a good L4 mission battleship. You waste so much time if you don't fit one.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

My personal favorite Mael fit, cap stable with shield booster or AB running. In most missions you can run both for the entire sites.

Only way to speed up a maelstrom is to bump it.

Even with an AB it doesn't cross 300m/s

I used the domination AB since it was relativly cheap and gives better speed for less cap than AB T2

ninjaedit: this fit crosses 300 m/s without all level 5 skills.
