Just an idea:

What if.... when we bought a faction ship
apocalypse navy issue tempest fleet issue etc

the general shape of the ships would be different but there might be some
small bonus difference for what corporation you received it from

for example if i got an apocalypse navy issue from Viziam
normally it would be
Apocalypse Navy Issue
Amarr Battleship Skill Bonus: 10% bonus to Large Energy Turret capacitor use and 7.5% bonus to Large Energy Turret optimal range per level.

Instead it would be something like:
Apocalypse Viziam Issue
Amarr Battleship Skill Bonus: 5% bonus to Large Energy Turret capacitor use and 10% bonus to Large Energy Turret optimal range per level.

all the corporations would have different stats but still balanced
also with different stats the ship would have different aesthetics
this would be for all ships that are sold by factions

i don't know just an idea
any comments?

I'd love to be able to buy Thukker Tribe Issue ships.

Thukk yeah!

Space. It seems to go on and on forever. But then you get to the end and a gorilla starts throwing barrels at you.

not worth the coding effort tbh. i'd rather see completely new hulls than warmed-up old hulls. also, most navy ships have a pretty narrow role, so varying the bonuses would likely lead to one of them being better than the others and thus, render the others useless. so unless you somehow manage to balance all versions of the given ship (which CCP will not be able to, i'm 99% sure), you have done the work for nothing, as only one modificaion will ever be seen in space.

I should buy an Ishtar.

well you wouldnt only have one ship with varying navy issues there would be many different gallente ships and
minmatar ships etc

or instead just paint jobs for faction ships

Right. He's just saying that once someone did the math and figured out which faction made the all around best hull, the others miniscule differences would render them pointless. I agree that they should work on making the tons of ships already in the game usable before adding new hulls. I wouldn't say no to some new T2 variants though. I still think they need to make a Marauder-like Exploration BC class with slots (or even built in, that would be cool) hacking/analyzing/salvaging gizmos. Of course, they'd still probably be solopwnmobiles, but hey. More ships is more ships.

Now, now, there are millions upon millions of variations of rust, each one more glorious than the other.
