A thought on corp management...

With regard to hangars and wallets, why are we limited to a fixed number?

With the new inventory UI, a corp should be allowed to add and remove divisions and wallets. This allows much more flexibility on what a corp is able to do in regard to organizing and protecting assets appropriately.

Some corps only need 1 hangar. Some need 20. Same with wallets.

This should never have been a fixed number to begin with IMO, but now seems like a good time to fix it, perhaps?

Well, I bet the reason there was a fixed number was due to it being MUCH easier to code an interface for a specific number than an arbitrary number. That said, I do agree that now seems like it would be the time to change it, since they're already working on the inventory interface.

It couldn't be a completely arbitrary number though, since some people would abuse it just to cause issues, but an upper limit of 25-50 should be far more than any legitimate use.

+1 and a bump

maybe that could be a leadin for an overhaul of the roles?

If they can every figure out what the disgruntled CCP employee did to the code all those years ago. (that might be urban legend but it makes sense why one of the worst mechanics in the game is still all FUBAR)

Fly fast and shoot straight, find peace when you need it, war when you want it, love always and turn up the music.

Agree with the notion that there would need to be a cap on it, or there may be room for abuse. I think 50 is probably a "more than enough" number. Even 30 is pretty good.

Heck, maybe it should be possible to have different hangars at different locations. Each hangar at a location increases the cost exponentially. That might be going too far, I don't know.

Also, very very strongly agree with the thought of a role overhaul. As a matter of fact the role/title system is completely broken. It should be set up as an ACL with the ability to have very granular control over every aspect of managing a corp. No more "I can't allow this new guy to install jobs at my POS because I can't stop him from cancelling my Thanatos build".

There needs to be the concept of "With the given roles, can character x perform action y on object z". For example, each hangar could have allow or deny for view, put and take. You create a role called "trusted member" and assign it allow view, put, and take. Then you give a character that role.

There could be some pre-defined roles, but the flexibility needs to be there.
