Hello,

I am trying to import the API info of my character, into EveMon, ver. 1.5.0.3097, ( as a new character, as I deleated all the original info while I was trying to fix this ), but I keep getting a "Key has expired" message.

I have tried searching the BattleClinic, ( EveMon ), forums, and Eve's own Forums/Support Pages, but I can't find any useful info that can heip me solve this little issue. ( Maybe I'm just blind. ).

Any help in fixing this issue would be deeply appreciated.

Thank You.

Kitty.

Welcome to the club... bear in mind that now every API has its own identification number, so you must use that API's identification number, not your character's number.

Roses are red / Violets are blue / I am an Alpha / And so it's you

1. Have you used the link in EVE Mon that gives you a pre-defined key?
2. Have you adjusted the expiration date on the key?

Thanks Tippia.

I should have noticed that. Fixed now.

Thank You.

Yeah there's actually two api pages now. The old one, which still functions but gives unusable APIs, and the new one, which apparently rolled out recently. The link in EVEMon brings you to the new one. I was unaware of the change, so was using the old page.

Don't get too excited though as it seems the new API page is broken at the moment. It doesnt show any API keys even if you generate new ones. I generated API's with it right after the API change which were working but they aren't showing up in the page now. Also creating a new one doesn't work. It allows you to select all the permitted API contents, name it, set expiry etc but when you submit it doesn't show in the list of API's....

Anyone else seeing this?

you need to create a new api key using the new system for evemon to work.

delete old api keys and create the new one.

u will need to select which api functions u need to work with eve mon.

use the verification code plus an id code with gets generated after u hit submit

Everytime you buy something that says "made in china" you are helping the rising unemployment in your own country unless you are from china, Buy locally produced goods and help create more jobs.

I did generate new ones right after the API changes which were working but the API pages aren't displaying any API keys (not the ones I generated before or new ones I try create now).

MissPrissy, and all others who still might be having problems with this issue, ( as I did ).

Follow these instructions :-

- When you try to add the API info, press the top link that EveMon states, ( in the API info popup )
- You should now be at the "Customizable API keys" page
- In the top right corner there is an "Create an API Key"
- From there, set your details, and use the info of this API, ( both ID and Verification Code ).

Once again, thanks to Tippia for pointing this out.

Trust me when I say that I'm not trying to be mean, but…

…have you tried scrolling down?

The keys are displayed in a fixed-width table that will commonly be pushed very far down the page, especially if you have a slightly narrow browser window, because it is set to not collide with the various side bars on the page. So it will commonly look like the page is completely empty — just a black background — and with the normal EVE stuff around that empty space… until you look at the bottom of the page where you (hopefully) find they keys.

Thanks for the help peeps. I finally figured it out. It seems that some proxy servers don't display the actual keys even though they are being generated correctly. When I got home I checked the API pages and all the keys I had generated from work were there but were just not being displayed on the page for some strange reason from work.

So beware as it seems some of the content of the API page is being blocked by some proxy servers...

The new API login link isn't intuitively available on the main eveonline website.
Infact, I don't believe the pointer to link's there at all - unless it's buried in a haystack somewhere.

For CCP : There should be no need for people to open EVEMon API management JUST to get the link to that page!
With the added extra customization options, even more so when you just want to generate several different keys without looking up EVEMon.

Basic step by step :

1. https://support.eveonline.com/api
2. Login and Create API key
3. For basic EVEMon access that mirrors the old limited API key, you need 4 items :
- CharacterInfo
- SkillQueue
- SkillInTraining
- CharacterSheet
4. Set label e.g. "EVEMon Basic API Key"
5. Set to expire OR no expiry (your choice).
6. Submit and copy paste info into EVEMon.

Afterwards same key can be updated and edited/customized to enable more options if you feel like revealing more options .... or you can just a create second key with more private options.
