Hello,

I just started playing again, and have a new problem. I have a HP Pavilion dv7-6135dx laptop with a radeon HD 6490 1GB graphics card.

The problem that I am now encountering is that I can not start the game with my radeon card enabled, i have to use the on board gpu. This lets me log in, in which i can switch to windowed mode, log out, switch to the radeon card, and then log back in.

Anyone else hear of anything like this happening?

Thanks for any info!

I have a Dual GPU laptop and im going crazy trying to figure out how to enable Crossfire or switch the 7690 ATi card on.

I would also like to find out how to get my hardware working with eve online.

Maybe both GPU's are actually working correctly but eve online client isnt showing it?

As far as I know they've got some issues detecting/using the right card in these new dual card environments. They're working on fixing it though.

it may be a typo issue with ATi Catalyst drivers, as I reach to the bottom right, right click on the driver, the box that pops up shows me 2 lines

6620g
6620g

the first one looks like its showing my 7690 card as a 6620g, instead of actually naming it "Crossfire 6620g" or something of that nature it just shows me options like:
3d settings
Crossfire settings

the 2nd one has the simple rotate display etc.

any one with a Dual GPU I.E. 6555G2 or something with a 2 behind the G, can you confirm the same findings or am I blessed with a screwed up Catalyst installation or does eve simply not support crossfire?

I also fired up both acounts, put them both to hog as much resources as possible and they all ran just fine, clearly above 30 FPS each, not a single stutter, compared to my old laptop running a GTX260, where it would begin to stutter on the 2nd account with anything higher then medium settings.

I dont know, im a total noob when it comes to AMD laptops, this being the first full AMD machine iv ever owned.

Got the same problem as the thread starter. Can't choose my Radeon HD 6670M in Game as Graphics adapter to be used.
I've set the exefile manually to use the high performance grapics card, but makes no difference.

Anyone got a solution to this yet?

do you get this issue where the screen flickers and then it goes to your desktop if you try to boot up eve in full screen?

press f10 as your computer boots up and set the BIOS graphics card to FIXED. Then when you right click on your desktop you can manually turn on the GPU. however tell me if you have any other issues after that.

Just like to Bump.

I'm still having the problem where it flickers and and will not load in fullscreen I will have to alt+enter to run eve in window mode.

Now the reason I'm bumping is I only have this issue when I'm using the AMD graphics card!! when I switch to the Intel based card the game will load straight up in full screen mode no flickering etc but when I close eve the screen looks all techni colour like I'm tripping on something..... I cntrl alt del then press cancel and the colours return to normal.

This is only happening with eve online and I'm starting to think Eve does not like switchable graphics....

The only way i could stop the flickering while on high power settings was to change it back to low power which seems to run it fine. I think the conflict might be that eve online as specified one card while the Catalyst system is trying to make it run another.

Bump!
Same bug on laptop with switchable Intel HD 4000 and nvidia GT 650M
game options sees only intel hd card, but all optins on start link and nvidia applications list are correct to run eve.exe with nvidia

maybe it is only wrong string in game options display?
I can`t figure out what card is actually works on eve for me//

any suggestions welcome, tnx

*Bump*

Same problem on a shiny new Sony Vaio with Radeon HD 6630M and Intel HD graphics 3000.

I can launch Eve with the intel chip, but with the Radeon chip, when i launch the game, I can hear the sound of login screen, but my computer displays my desktop.

I had disabled switchable in bios and the dedicated card was selected in Catalyst Control Center. Rift and Portal 2 ran without issue, Eve just flickered the screen then froze the computer with the desktop showing.

Changed bios back to switchable then selected the integrated gpu for Eve and finally got the game to work. I haven't messed with the gpu settings beyond this.

Hey guys, I just reformatted and had the same problem. I was able to work around it in the following way:
1) on startup, open the bios menu and switch from "fixed" to "dynamic" in the switchable graphics section
2) start eve; it will start on your integrated graphics by default
3) open your switchable graphics configuration (for me it's CCC) and set exefile to high performance
4) restart your computer, on startup switch it back from dynamic to fixed in your bios
5) make sure you have the high performance graphics card selected, then start eve - should work as normal

this worked for me with an hp pavilion and 6770m
