Atleast they got on sisi, without stacking penalties.

Will This mean that rattlesnakes and gilas will rule for pve?

after all the new drone dmg mods are a low slot item..making them more valid for shield tankers. Rattlesnakes are known to be overtanked for lv4s but with this change will rattlesnakes become the new FOTM lv4 runner?? Since its less vunerable to sucide ganking and such aswell... I see no reason to use navy domis over rattlesnakes now that the domis must shield tank to make use of the new dmg mods.

QUICK BUY RATTLENSNAKKKES !!

quite a few saw this coming weeks before the patch, bit late now as I doubt a solo PVE boat will go over 1B isk
But hey, you never know.

also, if the price goes to high, mission runners will seek other ships that will apear as lesser negative killmails, and the price all in itself.

On the other side of the coin:

The biggest Factor that may just push the Rattle above 1B isk, Tech 2 ships, Tech 2 BPO holders of these cruisers, battlecruisers and battleships will be dancing at the Bonfire, singing songs and drinking the finest Kaldari Ale if the rattle goes up to 1B ISK, for the value of their blueprints will triple the same day.

The worm is going to profit big time from this change, i bought a few.

It has higher CPU than the Ishkur, 3 rig slots, which can be expanded with CPU rigs now if need be, and it has the mids to field a reasonable tank with tackle, while being faster than most AFs. It also get the option now to use one of those new cap boosted shield boosters, which works really nice with the shield resist bonus while being easy on the regular cap.

Given that the price of that pirate frigate was really low at 50-60M i figured it would be a good buy and can only go up with these changes.

Sounds dubious. Has anyone verified it and if true, does anyone think it will stay that way?

Even without stacking penalties, they won't "rule" but they could be mighty convenient.

they're stacking penalized. he's just as inept at manipulation as his alliances is irrelevant.

Take it to CAOD. We only dump on Goons here.

do they affect sentries too?

i ask since sentries already have damage mod rigs, and CCP usually keeps drones and sentries separated.

if they dont apply to sentries they are pretty useless really, specially on a rattler, since to dps with meds or heavies you need 2 omni tracking on the mids AND drone mwd upgrades, at least 2 of each... thats 4 midslots gone to make drone dps viable compared to sentry dps. (to do sentries all you need is 2 omnis, faction)

anyway, having the rattler rise in price is a tad too far fetched... they have been selling for years at a very slow rate, the stockpile of rattlers/bpcs must be stupid high.

also whats the damage mod? +12%? no RoF mod?

bleh, anyway i look at it, rattlers are still sentry ships and instead of upgrading drone DPS they will go for missile damage mods.

keep in mind any sentry rattler will already have a t2 sentry drone upgrade for +15%, this drone mod will be an extra 8% due to stacking, and the next mod you add will be 4%... its ****.

anyone can see missile mods are 10x better, specially since the rattler has such a stupid tank that you can fill it with deadspace and faction mods without worrying of getting alphaed at a gate.

all this still leaves the rattler FAR behind the other pirate Battleships, even with the lows filled with drone damage mods. this isnt really a problem, the Rattler has a niche group of users and they couldnt care less for an extra 8% damage if it means they have to stop reading the book they have open on the desk and care about their afkrattler.

in the other hand, alts flying DPS focused Gilas could benefit a lot from this.

I think it is fair to assume that these drone mods - like all drone mods do right now i might add - will affect sentries.

The 12% damage mod is a, and i quote "very conservative start" on the test server. It is safe to assume that these mods will be adjusted before they go live. The dev said on test feedback that they will look at CPU reqs and dmg.

The Rattler will be awesome for two reasons: great dps with very low maintenance and very nice engagement range. The only thing that sucks now with the Rattler is its dps. Those mods will put the Rattler in the upper dps range while having a maintenance below drake level.

The Gila will be nice too, both for pve and pvp.

My personal favourite might be the worm though. Unlike the ishkur it probably will be able to fit the drone dmg mods and one of those new cap-injected medium shield boosters. Could be a very nice combination that plays well the other ships bonuses.

Curse just got a lot more amazing. MY shield nano curse is getting a drone mod put in the lows. I'd bet on curse prices rising in anticipation of this mod along with the Gila and Rattler.

Gila is gonna be fairly Epic in PVE now as it's got all those lows away from it's Mid shield tank That is going to bring it's DPS straight up. Gila might for go high slot weapons in favour of neuts in a pvp fit now. 2 Gilla's with shield reps in highs for doing anoms?

Apparently the new test server build will have cap-injected boosters boost twice as much as regular boosters, however with a 60 sec reload after cap charges have expired.

So this favours short solo engagements. I guess big winners are Merlin, Hawk, Harpy, Worm and probably some matar frigs.

The 12% (first mod with no penalty yet) drone damage mod is going to drag a rattler into the mach/NM/vindi category you say ?

Damn .. happy to hear it was only that far off from playing with the big boys.

This thread stinks of market manipulation and not even trying to be covert about it.

The dmg mod is 15 % now, pending further changes. That alone puts the Rattler past a CNR, which is the relevant benchmark here.

Vindi - i hope you didnt mean blaster fit, because that isn't exactly practical.
Mach - high maintenance (need to move, watch triggers)
NM - only good against sansha, BR

The Rattler will be able to outdmg a CNR while it won't even have to switch hardeners for full room aggro @90k+ range.

I don't know what the value of a Rattlesnake will be, given that there must be a huge stash around. I am pretty sure it will be quite popular for anoms and L4 missions now though. Besides for a manip attempt it is kind of late since it already rose by 100M+. I bought 7 Rattlesnakes when they were around 580M and the fanfest guy talked about drone dmg mods. I am going to wait how they will end up after the changes, i doubt they will be around 580M again though. Make of that what you will :-)

Gank fit Vexors anyone?

Mag stabs might be better on paper, but drones can actually project damage.
