Why is meta-4 taking a dive?

Noticed that if you look at price history say 3 months back, many meta-4 modules have a hockeystick pattern with a dive recently and alot of trading preceding this dive. I don't market pvp myself, but if anyone knowlegable has any information about this it would be greatly appreciated. just curious, its interesting

as far as i understand meta1-4 stuff got kick after Noctis born. More people started to loot and salvage mission wrecks.

what could happen in last 3 months? Maybe new missions with new loot tables which made meta 4 stuff drop more often?

I don't know why it happened... but I sure as hell noticed that drop. x_x

My guess would be that just more people started to loot their wrecks after the drone changes were confirmed. More meta4 stuff is just actually making it to the market now.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

Playerbase doesent actually grow with new players .. only new alts. Those get trained very fast to use vastly cheaper and effective t2 tank.

In short .. people dont need meta-4 tank mods as much. Combined with more supply the same time from noctis hordes.

Since the meta 0 drops have stopped in lvl IV missions I think there are more meta 3 and 4 drops now. Probably just a case of more supply than of old.

I mission quite often and it feels like more of these drop. Hard to tell though.

Yes. But i've seen also a Scrap Metal extravaganza Evil

I'm a diplomat. Sometimes i throw 425mm wide briefcases at enemy. Such is EVE.

All they did was change every meta0 with scrap metal. You only think there are more 3 and 4 drops because you notice them more, since the meta0 are gone.

The meta 4's i'm trading are increasing in price. so i'm not sure what to tell you.
As been said, they don't drop more. plus i doubt there are more people running missions than old days.
*maybe* because some left incursions and started doing missions instead, just maybe. can't really know for sure.

One of the causes first is maybe some players finally understood how to calculate real value of those items (perfect refining with metal scrap 4/5) and also because of drone poo gone. I always found funny to buy large bombs and 1600 plates at 5 to 10x cheaper than their real value in minerals (not always meta 4 OC).

The only real drop in Meta-4 mods I'm seeing is with weapon systems. I presumed that was a direct effect of the "supposed" increase in the drop rate for such items from mission rats precipitated by the removal of Meta-0 dropthese items s.

I'm stockpiling now in the hopes that the drop rates are adjusted again.

CCP said they were not replacing meta 0 drops with higher meta, just scrap. In fact thats why we got the scrap. The loot tables work by having a chance of a drop, then a table giving the relative chance for each item type dropping. Just getting rid of meta 0 would have increased the drop rate of everything else. CCP had to replace the meta 0 drops with something else to keep that from happening.

But they did release some more types of plexes. Could the drops from those be the source of new supply?

1.
Some one was manipulating it and either decided to take a break and just play the game or go find a girlfriend.

2.
Rumor has it that Meta 4 drops have increased by about 30%, Perhaps this might be the reason.

3.
The news for this patch was suposto make allot of stuff easier to train for, Mainly ships but there where also rumors this could have spiderwebbed into Tech 2 fittings, as the T2 fittings soared in price, I did completely ignore the Meta 4 items.. well except my inexcusable Hoarding of certain items I randomly mess around with time to time.

T2 were made better than most Meta 4 quite some time ago. They still have use in making T2 copies but if it's a dive in recent times, I'd speculate and say:
- someone got out of invention or
- stopped stacking them for that mythical day they become more valuable.

I had old habits of hoarding certain items as well. I am slowly learning, if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it's a duck. In the case of EVE that means if it looks like junk loot, chances are it's junk loot. It was fun for a while though Smile

I reckon its because CCP has changed the naming of the modules. It spoon feeds people to realise that the items are actually meta 4 and therefore, perhaps worth selling on a market rather then refining.

I dont know, its a pretty weak argument. Its not that hard to sort loot by meta level, but as someone said to me once "In Eve, always bet on stupid"

Large part due to the Noctis.

With Escalation coming in, more scrap metal will be found, which means more people will probably sell their loot instead of just bulk-refining everything they salvaged, since Meta 1-4 will stand out far more than before. With the changes to Vanguard sites there should also be a small migration back to Level 4 missions by people which will increase the supply.

With Hulkageddon going on, almost everyone I know who mines has shifted to missioning. If this is widespread it could result in an increased supply of the meta items since the beginning of Hulkageddon.

I think there was some pre-patch speculation going on, especially with guns, and then some price taking has occurred.

I managed to clear out some stuff that had been sitting around in my hangers for years.
