new drake + new missiles

who else thinks the new missiel turret look weird on teh drake, not to take a meme out of proportion, but this really is a case of the "yo bro, i heard you like missile turrets, so i put missile turrets on your missile turrets" scenerio,

please ccp art department, remove the on-model missile bays, and replace them with recessed launcher hardpoints, so when missile turrets are equipped, they would effectively keep the drakes cool design.

edit, durpa, was on the bf3 forums, had dice on teh brain.

I'm reminded of the bug where your missile model would get replaced by a ship. Drakes shooting drakes out of their launchers were a thing. Of course the only way it ever happens to me is my ship turning into a cloaked Harbinger.

hmm looks more like a gank boat and drakes are far from that, they are more of a sit and do **** all and carebear boat..

It doesn't have any... missiles are fired from the middle of the ship, surely nothing wrong...

You might want to have a look at the drake model again if you think it doesnt have any launchers on it.

That? launchers? always seemed like support pads for upcoming launchers... doesn't change the fact that missiles are launched from the middle of the ship, like any other ship capable of launching missiles while lasers, hybrids and projectiles have positioned and moving turrets. Yeah it's old design and in most situations everyone's too zoomed out to actually see much of a difference anyway, but you did ask what was wrong.

Not support pads for launhcers as the drake has been this way for years. They are launchers. I obviously know the missiles spawn from the middle of the ship. Nothing stopping them from implementing it so they get released from the launcher model that is already present, just redesign them to be small bit bigger or something i dunno, never done modelling before. But ones linked earlier, the modeller should be shot, hung then shot again for making something so ugly.

They work on the launchers wich are seperate 3D models, not the ships ('cept for stealth bombers atm), that would require a redesign of the drake and maybe the drake zealots wouldn't like it, otherwise the drake would be the only ship with fixed and motionless missile launchers capable of throwing sticks in a different direction than the one the launcher faces. Just saying.
Also, CCP is giving a skinjob to all ships progressively, so the drake's design will change in some months... oh the horror!

That makes sense actually yeh, but wish they wouldnt have some turret sticking out the side of it like that, has to be another way of doing it. I think the skin job is just the new V3 models, i doubt they will actually change the design of any of the ships.

Perhaps but the drake is a ship that with the new missile launcher animations will need some remodeling.

I don't see the problem. I had always assumed those were the missile bays, having them be the missile bays is not a huge stretch. Maybe make the "mount" they are on a bit more sunken into the ship so it' s bit more flush, but other than that it seems just fine. I mean, it's a giant paper airplane made of pissed off and high explosive warheads, it's not meant to be elegant.
