Module to make bubbles less stupid.

People like to leave their garbage in space a lot, like their mobile warp disruption field generators because it takes too long to unanchor them and scoop them or just destroy them. This leaves it up to everyone else to clean them up if they care and it's a little silly that a device like that can run indefinitely. I don't mind them running indefinitely, it's just crap when a week old bubble still interferes with people completely unrelated to the purpose of putting that bubble down... unless someone just put it there to be an *******. Which I don't doubt some people do.

So, instead, what about an interdiction nullifier module?

  • Make it add, say, 200% to your mass.
  • It can not be used immediately after a prop mod has been used.
  • It has a very short duration.
  • It can not be used while cloaked.

With these four simple rules this restricts this being used to evade active camps (it in fact makes it more dangerous to use) but makes life a hell of a lot easier for people roaming in and out of nullsec for whatever reason. Not least of all, this helps Industrials quite a bit by still allowing them to be perfectly destructible but doesn't make them unnecessarily crawl out of a bubble. This means more T1 indies in nullsec, and that means more idiots thinking they're safe with expensive cargo in a squishy ship. Everyone wins.

I did just realize that if the new microjump modules allow you to use them while inside of a bubble, that is actually solution enough.

But I love entering a system with ten docile bubbles, over sixty unscooped drones and not a single other person in Local.

Oh, absolutely, I love seeing it too, I just hate having to wade through it.

Like abandoned POS, abandoned warp disruptors are definitely a problem.

Perhaps bubbles should simply require fuel. Give them capacity for perhaps 3 days but make it so anyone can access their fuel bays. Gate camps that leave them behind probably wont want to load them with that much fuel, and might even bother to recover their leftover fuel to use later.

T3's have been out long enough that they should have engineered an interdiction nullifier module like the op suggested. The fact that it takes up a slot is enough of a downside really +1

lol....

IMO, interdiction nullfication is tooo potent as is... In one of its previous incantations, IN ships used to warp out of bubbles, but they would still be pulled in by bubbles. That was a good balance (along with the nerfs if gives thes ship). Making an IN module would need some SERIOUS drawbacks before you could fairly introduce this module.

As for bubbles... I agree they can be a PITA, but certainly not enough to introduce an interdiction nullified module... I do kinda, sorta like the fuel idea, but only if the fuel was small enough in size that I can fit a small bubble and 5 hours of fuel, along with lots of ammo in my 120m3 frigate cargo bay, or a medium bubble and 5 hrs of fuel in my cruiser bay...

I'd still want to see these ships get caught by drag bubbles, and I'm confident the drawbacks I proposed would prevent this module from being abusable and merely for convenience. Preventing cloak alone would do a lot.

I'd be more concerned with having this charge be very small and having the cargo in a bubble generator being very small to accommodate that, but simply being able to recharge a bubble by activating it would be fine by me. This would justify them expiring in mere hours, really.

Here's the real question in this thread, why are you warping gate to gate in null to begin with?

LOL they are only a problem for lazy ass players who won't bother to destroy them. Otherwise...random unoccupied moons means unoccupied and how many people warp straight to gates? See...they are not a problem because if its not being used and you are already prepared against it there is no problem. So leave them as is or have CCP create a mini-dread (Tier 3 T2 Battlecruiser broski! ) whose only function is to clear "mine fields" of bubbles while the dread already bashes those unused POS towers (<--See, there is already a solution to take down a POS and if you can't/won't/don't bother to fly a dread then it is in fact your ******* problem to deal with it that CCP does not need to fix)

The problem with this is actually destroying the bubbles, which you might not want to do, and if you're by yourself sneaking around quiet parts of nullsec at quiet parts of the day you're still better off just crawling out of the bubble for single trips. Not least of all, the bubbles keep people who might be following you from warping after you right after you finally escape.
