Anyone else notice an increase in disconnects since the INFERNO release?

I am getting 3 to 4 per night now, while I was not getting them at all previously.

No disconnects. Maybe you should check with your ISP?

Yes, this happened to me as well after this damned launcher patch. got better after about 2 weeks. i also again get constant disconnects.

To those that says its ISP (inc you CCP) i doubt the ISP is changing things at the same time as CCP, that said if CCP is going to switch something in their settings or something that could cause this this should be mentioned somewhere in patch notes. it should not be up to the ISPs to figure out what they need to change after people start complaining.

last patch i sent all the needed info to CCP and they basically said.. yep you are having disconnects.. sry bra.

Nothing we can do but wait for whoever in the middle to adjust unless CCP stops changing things that work.

Chances are it is the ISP, but is also influenced by the client server traffic. Not so much the download of data from the server, but the upload of data from the client. I started experiencing frequent disconnects immediately after the Escalation patch, but it seems to have improved since then. Of course there was Burn Jita in there too, but I wasn't consistently in Jita either, or even the Forge.

Theory behind this is based on many ISPs upload speeds. My ISP in particular caps upload at about 1 Mbps, which is actually functionally more like 0.5-0.83 Mbps, where my download caps at around 20 Mbps or so. Anyone using a T1 or Server class connection won't experience problems of course, but I suspect that certain elements of traffic between client and server use up this bandwidth and choke the connection. It's crashed my internet a few times.

It's possible the ISP is checking for a Server on the client end because that is against the TOS of the ISP and there is unusual bandwidth, or it's possible that CCP is looking at something immediately after patch and requiring client-side data to do it which ups the bandwidth requirement. Maybe both.

Also, Voice servers seem to run into this problem frequently as well, and the use of both Teamspeak or Ventrilo and the EVE client only makes matters worse.

I used to run into this all the time with Ventrilo back in the days when I was wormholing, where disconnecting from Vent would suddenly resolve the issue and my connectioon would remain stable. I'm not sure how EVE voice affects this being built into the client instead of running a separate program and processes, but it will still be using more bandwidth up than usual.

I am getting disconnected quite a bit now as well (since escalation) but its quite specific. Session changes occasionally, but more often than not its when moving items between Holds and Hangars or between Customs Offices and Holds. Seems to be getting better though. I cleared cache and reset both my modem and my router as well. I make it a point to clear cache anytime EVE is upgraded or patched.

I've noticed the same thing.

The problem with slavery is that only half of the manacles are visible. The Holder, supposed master, is equally bound by the gilded chains of privilege and wealth.

Before, I saw maybe 1 per night.

Now? 1 per night.

if I'm playing Minecraft while idling in Eve, both get disconnected. It's not a client problem, my DSL is just a little flaky at times.

It's been rather unstable for me as well since two updates ago.
Also noticing some video glitches I've not seen before.

My laptop's problem was cured by a video driver update.
My desktop has the current drivers installed already.

No but people have DC's in waves, I had DC everyday 6months ago, a patch fixed that, 6 months before that I had none. 2 years dc, 4 none and 6 a lot...

Everyone has stages of DC in their eve life at one point or another, CCP promised to fix this for everyone in 2004 so I am sure they will get around to it.

In the meantime, I am lucky.

OP is just trying to stink up the Forums like he did in Science and Industry.

Best to bail befo e the flames begin. It's a Troll.

Oh, the one right above me stunk up the Japanese thread too yesterday. They both apparently are in cahoots, or its coincidence.

Nah. Cahoots.

Never used to get disconnects, now I get them every evening, often around the same time. I triple box and the clients slowly drop off in succession, occasionally two then the third, but usually one at a time about 5-10 minutes apart. Has nearly cost me a ship or two, since I use them all in PvP.

The curious thing is we get disconnect waves across the alliance. Around the same time every night we'll have a 30-40 minute window where people get repeated disconnects, especially multiboxers. Given we've got players spread across Britain (and on different ISPs), Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden etc I'll laugh if someone says it's my ISP.

Ironically we're in the "disconnect window" at the moment, and even the forums are spiking out.
