Reverse Engineering: Success rate change?

Has anyone else noticed a change in success rate of RE? With perfect RE skills I'm now failing at a rate much higher than ever before. This has been happening every day since the pre inferno patch. I have done RE for years and never have I seen the failure rate so high. Malfunctioning and intact items are failing at rates that approach wrecked items. Stealth nerf?

Makes sense, t3 invention salvage has been nearly worthless.

Only wrecked, the others are oki compared to the odds to actually get the one out of 4 good BPC and the fail %.

Back to the OP, i noticed consistent rates with wrecked that reflect the 35% chance and with malfunction it also averages to my 55%. Maybe keep in mind that its still a chance bases system, so even 80% can mean u fail 10 tries in a row. Only with very large tries u should average to the % chance calculated.

Little off-topic, but i still find it strange that the actual RE skill has very little influence in the %, while the other 2 science skills amount to much more %. This means that on a intact artifact going from RE2 to RE5 will actually only increase your chance from 81.6% to 84%, thats kinda "mehh" and actually makes skilling RE to 5 nearly useless. I mean 16 days for what a 1% chance change?

With RE V, Mech engineering V, and Plasma Physics V, I'm getting about 1 out of 6 Malfunctioning hull success rate. Prepatch it was 4 of 5. I thought I was having a bad streak, but after losing billions of isk worth of materials in failures, there is something wrong

How many billions? Because a billion in malfunctioning hull sections - never mind the rest of the components - is only about 13 runs. You would need many billions before that is statistically significant.

Make your test at least 100-500 malfunction runs, 6 tries is hardly statistical evidence :) Also keep in mind, u still have a 37% chance to fail per try. I finished around 100 malfunction RE jobs the last couple of days and it somehow matches my RE chance and i don't call 100 tries statistically relevant. What i know for sure, is that wrecked work perfectly within its chance limits around 30-35% success chance.

Success rate = base rate * (1 + reverse engineering skill level * 0.01) * (1 + (datacore 1 skill level + datacore 2 skill level) * 0.1)

* Wrecked relics have a base probability of 20 percent and a run count of 3.
* Malfunctioning relics have a base probability of 30 percent and a run count of 10.
* Intact relics have a base probability of 40 percent and a run count of 20.

yeah yeah... I've built thousands of t3 hulls. RE'd thousands of relics, something is different.

Maybe it only affects Hull RE? I just finished 33 malfunction RE Sub jobs and had a 80% success rate.
