HAC...or T3 BC's?

So, I've been training towards using HIC's/HAC's for a while, but I've been reading various thread stating that HAC's have become obsolete due to the T3 BC's release. So, I have two question to ask all of you.

1. Is the HAC viable anymore? What makes it a wanted resource to Corps? What is the best one to train for?

2. If the HAC is truly replaced by the T3 BC's, which one is the best one to go for? Which would be most wanted by Corps?

Key factors to keep in mind:
I want to be going to 0.0 space Corps
I want to be involved in wars/inter-corp battles
Personal income levels, in regards to plex, are low-ish

Frankly, wait a month before comiting to training for either. Supposedly in a month Question we may be getting a whole set of ship changes. So the considerations between these two ship classes will likely change.

Use the interveneing time to train some support skills that will make whichever path you pursue first result in a better HAC or Tech III.Smile

Big wars are mostly not fought by HACs, but by BC/BS/Caps.
Small gang roaming sure HACs may work fine.

QFT. listen to this guy.

just in case you arw wondering: right now HACs bring about 90% dps, 70% of the EHP and cost about 150% more than their BC counterparts. the only reason i can think of to fly a HAC is when you need the T2 resists (i.e. you have logi support) or you want to be a unique snowflake.

I should buy an Ishtar.

They havent replaced skirmish gangs/solo work of the Vagabond and AHACs are still viable, maybe even more with the recent titan nerf.

They also have a much smaller sig radius, better agility, speed, and scan rez...but there are lots of downsides too...

At the end of the day...train support skills until you figure out what your corp/alliance likes to fly. Different FC and fleet doctrines call for different ships...HACs and T3s still have their roles...but EvE is not a "This is the best ship" game...there are only good ships for particular roles in particular situations...

So...

Based on this, what would you all suggest to train to be ready for these supposed changes in a month?

And Ignore the no training thingy, it's training something currently.

i didn't look too closely but i noticed that your gunnery support skills as well as your subsystem skills are only lvl4. aside from that, you could get your missile skills up to snuff and train for drake/tengu if you want.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Go ahead and train BC V. You won't regret it. Especially with the upcoming changes.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

I would recommend t2 guns or BC5 - it leaves it open not only for Command Ships but also for your tier 3s, which are somewhat useful - however sig radius is a huge factor to consider - medium guns do a lot more damage than larges against cruisers and frigs without MWD active or TP on them - also the speed, agility, t2 resists of HAC are nice but CS are pretty much the ultimate in the medium gun dep't, - since you're wired currently for pilot/gun attributes, I would suggest t2 guns/support skills for overall punch, then while you play with your new guns you could train BC5 :)

If income levels are "low-ish", then I would stay away from using T3's for PvP , at least for now. However, in Null Sec, a cloaky Tengu is great for Plexing (PVE). Pesronally, I like using variety... BC's are a good staple but getting into a HAC is a nice way to change things up for better speed and agility.

The beauty of this game is that almost all ships have their niche.

The best advice as given above: train support skills to 5 in the meantime but get BC 5 under your belt asap for the coming changes.

Ehem, guys, I think OP is talking about tier 3 battlecruisers, not tech 3 strategic cruisers.

Personally, with the low income, I'd say you should stick to the tier 3s, HACs IMHO simply aren't worth the hefty price tag. So what the tier 3s have puny tank if they are able to avoid everything? HACs have less firepower (according to most fits on bc) compared to tier 3s, especially at the same ranges that tier 3s operate in.

Also, TALOS FLOCK!!!
