Is there any such thing as a laid back 0.0 corp?

Don't live in Null full stop and you'll be happy. Casual PVP lives in Lowsec, Sure we have the odd CTA for some stuff, but mostly its x up in corp who fancies alittle roam. 10 guys head out a yay. Or 2 guys or 5 guys or whatever. Fly whatever, whereever. Its pretty open ended and up to you.

O how I don't envy nullbears, Join fleet or log off, said by the dumbest FCs ever.

Next time an FC says that, some tell the entire fleet to log off and leave him their holding his own penis with no one but his alt to yell at. Best troll ever.

Don't ask about Italics, just tilt your head.

Sounds like you just wanna rat all day to jew up those tasty nullsec iskies. Not gonna happen, eventually you will ether lose the sovereignty if too many of your care-bears types get in to alliance or you will be comissared by your own leadership. Ether way be ready to dedicate time, effort, and isk to fight in the nullsec. There is no concord, your alliance is the law and the concord.

The only reliable solution is to have multiple alts/accounts for PvP and ratting. When your alliance has fleets up for PvP log in your PvP character and join fleets, your ratting characters can stay behind and continue making ISK ratting or whatever else you have to do.

Every time I get talked into joining a 0.0 alliance, and it always sounds like it will be fun, I get told how laid back everyone is...and I make sure to tell everyone I'm not interested in constant demands (an occasional CTA is alright but I ******* hate when it's all the time). I'm always told I'll fit in fine and there's no obligations blah blah...

Then I join, spend all my ISK moving out to 0.0 (it's not cheap), and spend the next two months looking for a way out as I get innundated with corp mails demanding everyone be here or there or in this fleet or that. Step away for the weekend to go do something else besides play EvE (yes, I do that) and come back to demands that I be in some remote location by Monday or "HEADS WILL ROLL!!!"

This is not "laid back".

So ******* sick of it. So sick of it I don't even want to log on anymore. I like EvE, I think, but I just hate this ****.

Seems the only place for a non-poopsock is to sit in hisec and be bored forever.

my 2c of advice: after joining a new corp you should be really active during the first 2-4 weeks.

by that point most people that matter should have noticed that you are a "bro" and you should have developed a pretty good sense for which directors and which mails/orders you can safely ignore.

afterwards just play whenever you feel like it and ignore all alliance mails you don't like - but continue to show some presence on jabber/irc and maybe get a few corp/alliance-mates to play other games with you on a semi-regular basis.
If you get kicked for inactivity don't get stressed out over it, just ping one of your LoL/HoN/BF/CoD:MW/... bros to re-invite you.

Sometimes there's ugly stuff in your inbox that you can't safely ignore - but that's maybe 1% of total mails. Most of the orders, rules, deployment schedules, drama, ... is not that important (and tbh most players don't read alliance mails anyways).

tl;dr make some friends that will speak up for you and don't think you have to follow every order some megalomaniac director comes up with

I'm in a laid back corp.

Then again, I like getting in fleet and shooting people.

Look at Verite's sov map, then don't join any of the alliances you can see on there.

To be fair, your best bet would probably be joining some renter alliance, and with that I mean renter, not pet. No one will care if you join, as long as they get their 10% or whatever taxes from ratting.

Sov alliances and alliances engaging in sov things ultimately mean CTAs, there's no way around it. The moment I hear "sov" and "CTA" in an alliance is the moment I leave, no matter the friends I made in it.

I guess the final advice is: join a corp of people who like doing things that you like doing.

If you don't like doing mandatory fleets then join a corp that doesn't have to engage in such activities (ie: don't join corps in sov-holding alliances).

OP, it sounds like you'd be happiest in a corp based in NPC 0.0 or maybe even just a renter corp. Renter corps will generally ask little more than that you pony up some ISK (usually in the form of ratting taxes).

EDIT Were you in IRC by any chance? That alliance is a notorious scam that exploits its memebers for the massive benefit of a few leaders.

The idea of a laid back null corp would imply that Sov 0.0 would be inherently laid back. Its not., at least not in the sense that you are looking for. From what it sounds like is that you want to live in 1 spot and rat to your hearts content while only joining fleets when you feel like it. If thats the case then look for a renter corp.

I refuse to bot. I realize that puts me at an extreme disadvantage...but on the other hand I'd lose all respect for myself if I gave up my credibility for something as stupid as a game by cheating.

As far as ratting in 0.0...yeah, it's nice, but it's also boring as hell and I can make more per hour doing lvl 4 in hisec easy. Unless you're doing the 10/10 plexes you're kind of wasting your time in 0.0 if you're there for the ratting. The ISK is in hisec unless you RUN an alliance (at which point you're getting rich from moons).

I like PvP and am right there doing it until people start telling me I HAVE to all the time. I do my best and break my back for alliances and corps I'm in when I'm in game. I don't ******* leach, but when people start acting like I work for them, or owe them something and start threatening and other bullshit though it starts to **** me off... and that's all I can seem to find anymore (perhaps always). Why does it take garbage attitude to keep people fighting for you?

And they'll all tell you they don't have a lot of mandatory fleets unless there's an active front...but no matter how often you're in fleets your going to have to hear people bitching and yelling about getting in fleets or else.

A simple solution would be to learn to love Logistics ships (Scimitar, Basilisk, Guardian), and have the skills to fly them. I can do the first two at Logi V, and once Energy Emission V finishes I'll contemplate the third.

Not only are most major corps/alliances reimbursing them at more than 100% cost, a number of Incursion groups are starting to as well. If you become good at it they'll likely consider living with the fact that you're not on all the time; If you can help train other pilots (secondaries) up to your level or better it will be a plus as well.

Another suggestion would be to seek out a group aligned with one of the pirate factions (both in and out of Null). Don't discount the RP community either, they're just as interested in fighting each other, just with more immersion; Some groups even have RP-optional corps lying around.
