Caldari T2 Industrials: unique selling point

Is there any reason to train them instead of the others? What can they do better compared to the others? Gallente have most cargo followed by Amarr. The Minmatar blockade runner offers two high slots, very handy for exploration. Also great agility I guess.

Caldari offer most med slots but not enough grid to fit extenders. So EHP wise they are more or less equal in comparison (except Amarr with a full row of cargo extenders). I considered to fit rainbow ECM to jam tackler frigates maybe...but without bonus, I'm not sure. Also: if I get caught (in a blockade runner) I did something wrong anyway. So is there anything else how one or both Caldari T2 industrials stand out?

Btw: skill considerations regarding the Charon do not matter for me, I won't fly a freighter on this character. It's only about the T2 industrials.

Like the Mastodon, the Bustard ends up getting the cake and eating it too. It has great tank due to the mid slots, and great cargo due to the low slots. Like this:

Quote:
[Bustard, Tank'n'Haul]

Improved Cloaking Device II

Large Shield Extender II
Experimental 10MN MicroWarpdrive I
Invulnerability Field II

Reactor Control Unit II
Expanded Cargohold II
Expanded Cargohold II
Expanded Cargohold II
Expanded Cargohold II

Medium Cargohold Optimization I
Medium Cargohold Optimization I

Ed: You can even go with a dual-LSE and rigged setup that gets like 60k or so EHP if you don't care about warp speed.

The Crane is not significantly different from the Prorator or Viator. It does have the highest base cargo out of them, though.

I prefer the Amarr and Minmatar T2 industrials. The Prowler has that very handy second high slot. The Amarr one has good cargo capacity and looks like a scarab. The Prorator and the Viator have the advantage of being able to carry a cruiser. This can be very handy.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

The Crane offers the largest base cargohold capacity, midslots aren't realy usefull though.

The obvious lack of scout is one of the reasons you can get caught:
-the smartbomb gate camp (lol gate guns in low vs smartbomb gate camps), uncloak cans despite being considered as an exploit and leading to a lol ban are used frequently, gate blob.
Then you have a myriad of situations where by your fault or lag you can get caught but doing things rights in a blockade runner is extremely hard to get it except situations above.

It's a very bad choice (ihmo) to train for that ship and even worst for a jump freighter because wherever decent size corp you go the CEO or one of he's acolytes always have a JF/F and Carriers, so you do'nt need anything else than a carrier in low/null, and in high sec just contract to someone else or use an Orca.
There are few skills I regret with my toons, freighter is one of them, gallente ships and hybrids are the other ones.

I would trade away a low and a med-slot, even tossing in half its tank as well, just for another high-slot on the Crane.

I don't think uncloak can's are considered an exploit. However, dropping tons of them, thus causing lag (intentionally or not) is an exploit.

Yes, great tank and cargohold!

This is how a blockade runner should be fit . . . to warm a pirate gate-campers heart <3 P

Warm his pants too.

I think that the Bustard can be set up somehow to tank L5s, but I don't know how exactly.

EDIT: Looks like you can get one hell of a therm/kinetic tank if you fill up with cap boosters, about 800+ with a large booster and one invuln against 50/50 therm/kin Shocked

The bustard can also do this:

Shield Power Relay II
Shield Power Relay II
Shield Power Relay II
Shield Power Relay II
Shield Power Relay II

Large Shield Extender II
Large Shield Extender II
Pithum A-Type Kinetic Deflection Amplifier

Small Tractor Beam I

Medium Core Defense Field Purger II
Medium Core Defense Field Purger II

This can tank guristas for 1822 dps of serp for 1515 dps. Needs a 3% pg 'plant though

Hate to burst your bubble the Amarr Impel can carry a larger load than the Occator by a hair of 710m3 using T1 Rigs
