Ok, thanks for the replies which answered my initial query.

I have to say that in my experience the bulk of the income from ratting is surely from loot (although I do manufacture in losec so melting down those large smartbombs/lazors/drone alloys give me the materials to do so).

The bounties seemed pretty much the same as similiar class npc spawns for (in this instance based on my location) blood raiders.

I wont lose any sleep over the change (however I dont rate it as positive) but i imagine people who live in the drone regions may take a different view.

*Edit* I always have this urge to refer to them as Rouge Drones, am I the only one? Even a sentient machine's gotta look good, right? This is off topic isnt it. Ok sorry.

I have to say that EvE is not the first game removing loot. Other MMOs too were plagued by bots + inflation and took a similar way.

Though the result is somewhat boring. Loot has been created for that little feeling of "what am I going to get this time?" that tickles PvEers. Removing it for plain scraps removes that neat tickle and makes the experience dull.

Imo they should have put something else in place of metal scraps, just to still give the surprise effect.

Agreed. Its always nice when that 20mil shield boost amp drops from a wreck but with drones you always knew that you would get some trit / pyrite / zydrine / whatever for your efforts. If the bounties are similiar to other npc types (allegedly slightly higher?) thats all well and good but if im living in a place thats too dangerous to mine then ISK bounties wont buy me the non-existant minerals on market.

I certainly hope not, as a huge problem with the drone regions was AFK Botters grinding belt rats.
