A friend of mine convoed me up and asked what a good way to protect his Hulk during Hulkageddon would be.

My answer (because don't undock is for the weak)

How to beat Hulkageddon:
Monitor local
Watch your d-scanner
Fit as much tank as you possibly can.

[Hulk, Anti-Gank]
Micro Auxiliary Power Core I
Damage Control II

Small Shield Extender II
Small Shield Extender II
Invulnerability Field II
Medium Shield Booster II

Modulated Strip Miner II, Veldspar Mining Crystal I
Modulated Strip Miner II, Veldspar Mining Crystal I
Modulated Strip Miner II, Veldspar Mining Crystal I

Medium Core Defence Field Extender I
Medium Core Defence Field Extender I

Vespa EC-600 x5 <- always launched, set to aggressive

22k EHP, with 170 DPS tank for about a minute and some change.

Not too shabby, really. I REALLY DOUBT a Thrasher will be able to kill your Hulk. Any Battlecruiser on the other hand, will. It's conceivable that you could give a battlecruiser a hard time, but it's not a guarantee.

It will take at least 4-5 Thrashers is my guess to knock out that Hulk, so yeah.

You can get 32k EHP with the MSE fit I posted a couple of weeks ago, but it takes a navy MAPC.

Best tank for Hulk during Hulkageddon: station.

So, good luck shooting that station. Big smile

That is an option, it nearly halfs your yeild, Risk vs. Reward I guess.

Some yield is better than no yield.

The Gaming MoD - retro to modern, console to MMO, I blog about it if it's a game and I'm interested in it. Yes, I play games other than Eve and I don't care if you think I'm wrong.

Replacing a Rokh is better than replacing a Hulk if they even go for it.

Slightly off topic; Your chances of being suicide ganked as a Miner is greatly increased during Hulkageddon, however it's just a shame the majority of Miners(hi-sec), don't adopt this sort of survival attitude, during every other normal Eve day, that isnt "Hulkageddon." Because lets face it, Hulkageddon or not, as a Miner suicide gankage is always on the cards regardless.

you only need to keep you ships out of scanner range, and you can keep a couple of cloaked ships with the mining ships to act as support. to keep the hulks a live to a bit longer.
still while hulkageddon, there is griefer-geddon going on to stand again it. though this year sounds like there isn't as many people taking in part of that.
but it has prizes for most daily kills and for total kills with that. I would have taken part but I haven't seen any activity in my area of space and I haven't had time to play at this time because of work.

still can't complain about the whole thing, after all it is what eve online is all about really. it's players shaping the feel of the game.

make sure you've a 15k+ omni-ehp so you can absorb one tier 3 BC volley. Then put an alt in a cap stable osprey to put constant reps on you and other hulks in your party.

1) Scan about (won't take long at all) for a wormhole into a C1/C2 system containing a grav site.
2) Scan all entries and exits and POS, put Covops scouts on them.
3) Bring in Covetors, pillage ABC rocks and leave.

Why use Hulks in highsec, when there's a fortune to be had elsewhere?

I just saw the ultimate Hulkageddon miner fit. :)

Orca sitting in the belt with mining drone IIs :) About 250k EHP and 500 dps

Of course those drones wont be pulling very much ore but you have a huge cargo hold and it would take a whole lot of gankers to pop this thing. The ultimate Hulkageddon AFK mining ship.

Buy a Covetor, insure it, fit for max yield. Mine for an hour without getting ganked.

Sucess! they can gank you but you don't loose any ISK what so ever. Anything after that is a bonus :p

I lied :o

because in the time it takes you to find a hole, secure it and move your miners in and out, you could be happily mining pyroxeres and likely come out even if not better.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Can get a rokh up to 120k EHP and 891 M3 ore a min with a 916m3 cargo. About 60-65% of the yield of the above anti-gank Hulks and far harder to pop, as well as cheaper.

This reminds me of when I was running COSMOS stuff and got a 'Wild' Miner 3-run BPC. Since it really is the best mining laser in-game (same yield, lower cpu reqs), I built one and stuck it up on contract for 1.2bill for a laugh.

Two days later, somebody bought it.

Then he convo'd me and asked for 6 more, and a bulk price.

I said 5bill, he said yes..

I spent two days running about finding poxy sleeper materials and buying another BPC.

When I delivered, he gave me 5.5bill and a Vindi.

I asked him what he was planning to do with such expensive mods.

He'd "worked out" that an NI Geddon could fit 7 of them along with 6 Aoedes and a couple of faction CPU co-pro's. With Harvester drones it would yield about 1500 ore/minute, which was "best in game".

I pointed out that a similar Hulk does 300 more than that with T2 mining crystals, can at least field a small tank, and wouldn't cost him the best part of 10bill to which there was a short silence, after which he asked "Mining crystals?"

That guy definitely deserved to get ripped off.
