A serious miscalculation by the devs

The devs made a mistake when they nerfed supercarriers and now titans. The mistake was simple.

Nerds play EVE. Nerds are gearheads. They took away gear coolfactor without replacing it with new coolfactor toys (Tier 3 BC?).

So far, it hasn't totally destroyed the game (yet), but it's only a matter of time.

The solution? EVE needs a new endgame goal. I'm not sure what that should be, but it should be centered around gear and coolfactor.

(Insert response to whining tears about how EVE has no endgame, its a sandbox, bla bla bla).

The nerfs to supercaps will cause more super pilots to join the largest alliances who can properly "support" their deployment, further concentrating firepower/wealth in EVE. The end result will be fewer "fun" fights, and will hurt EVE in the long run.

It needs a massive tankbuster dreadnought that pewpews titans easily but barely moves and can't hit anything smaller than an SC

I can't land on grid and press the win button anymore. May I have a way to be uber again?
FIXED.

If Goons were around when God said, "Let there be light" they'd have called the light gay, and plunged the universe back into darkness by squatting their nutsacks over it.

Why would you ask for an endgame goal that will be forever beyond your reach?

They need to add cap hulls and diversify their rolls like we do with every other class of ship. It's not hard to understand that conceptually. Should give vets plenty to train up once introduced. It's the only solution, and only a matter of time imho.

New? It would have to have an old one for that to make sense.

Your problem does not exist.

... so, why is the "endgame" some not-so-precious titans and carriers?

honestly, only little kids are "gearheads", any TRUE geek/nerd knows bragging rights can only come form defeating a "gearhead" who thinks hes invincible with statistically inferior equipment, if only to further reinforce the claim that you are smarter and/or more intelligent (there IS a f=difference) than the aforementioned "gearhead".

i for one will never fly anything larger then a carrier, adn then a carrier only in support of my corp, i ahve no wish or need to fly anything alrger, ebcause they are BORING, its funner to go above 15 m/s.

Ships aren't goals. Maybe for a short while perhaps, but soon they get replaced by wanting to be someone important, famous or helpful in an alliance powerhouse holding regions in null, a rich and succesful WH-corporation, or a market-leading industrial giant. Or just top the killboards being a pseudo-pirate.

Ships are just tools, and the ones that think they are goals are tools themselves.

I thought end-game was when you actively play about 2 weeks a year just to keep your accounts up for poasting.

The advantage of a bad memory is that one can enjoy the same good things for the first time several times.

One will rarely err if extreme actions be ascribed to vanity, ordinary actions to habit, and mean actions to fear.

I am so sick of seeing this crap. Sandbox or not it has an End game, every video game ever made has an end game. PERIOD.
At some point in any game Sandbox or not you will have finished all the content given by the developers, end of story.

Sandbox games just allow you to avoid the end game or allow players to create content on top of what the developers have created but that does not change the fact that the game had an end game.

In EVE, end game is once you have faction with all the factions you want, all the Skills you want, all the ships you want and all you have left is pvp. Sure the game is not over but you have done everything you wanted with the developers content and now are just creating your own.
