Tech 2 missile to the face. Sorted.

WoW holds your hand until end game, and gives you a cookie whether you win or lose. EVE not only takes your cookie, but laughs at you for bringing one in the first place...

A sensible strategy could be:

1) Check the GF's AI: is her a basic Angel? Or annoying perma-jam b!tching Guristas?
Or Elite Drone AI?
Or Sleeper? In the last case just slam her on bed and Sleep her.

2) Web her from outside her wallet NOS range.

3) Try staying at safe range, orbiting at 30 Km if she's fat enough.

4) Overheat your big, fat point. Use Vaselite Paste in case you need a fix.

5) Shoot with artillery at leisure. Go for a steady approach, remember the best approach is K.I.S.S.

Use a proxy server, i.e. get your girlfriend a boyfriend to keep her busy when you're playing Eve.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.
