ok the purpose of this thread is to ask how exactly bombs work. namely how bombs are deployed via SB
ive always played in high sec and was in null sec b4 bomb came to be so ive never played with this toy and me being the jack of all trades that i am, when i dont know about something i ask and make myself look like a noob so you dont have to. and if you know something that isnt listed add your 2 cents in

what i know
-2 bombs in the launcher and how ever many in your hold
-launches in the direction your ship is facing
-lock on not needed
-low sec and null sec only
-more effective when use my multiple bombers

what i dont know
-distance to detonation
-can it be "killed" b4 it blows
-can you lock it (im curious if its possible)
-can you kill your own ship or pod with it
-the ROF seriously i see a 2 sec ROF but a reactivation delay so im a bit lost
-the range of the AOE on detonation

ive heard a few bombers can really **** a spider tanked fleet over with void and lockbreakers or demolish mining ops with reg bombs

Bombs are a null sec only toy, cant be used in low or high sec.

The bomb travels 30 km in front of your ship then explodes with a 15 km blast radius, damaging anything within the sphere.
Damage is based on Sig radius so a battleship will take more damage than a frigate.
Saying that a frigate with a mwd on( greatly increased sig) within the blast radius is a dead frigate.

It is possible to blow yourself up, mainly if you mwd into the blast radius, which is always funny to watch.

I don't think the bomb is lockable or can be destroyed, but haven't really tried to.

If I remember correctly, the launcher has a short reload timer, but a 2 minute reactivation timer, basically fire bomb, wait 2 mins until you can fire again, the T2 launcher may have different stats.

More bombers should use the same type of damage since the bombs have high resists to their respective damage type. I think 7 was the max amount of bombs you can use at once. After that they start to kill each other at detonation.
A few bombers can eliminate a whole (cruiser/bc/bs?) fleet if it is sitting together.

I had a play round with bombs on the test server recently (in preparation for TQ) and noticed (in my case at least) there was no bomb graphic/animation, ie. the bomb gets launched, travels 30km and then disappears. It does damage and anything that dies explodes, but there is no explosion animation from the bomb itself (like torpedoes for example). Is this a problem on my end?

No. Null sec only.

Well, yeah, but that goes for anything really. You must use the same damage type. Bombs are hardened against their own damage type. Mixed damage type bombs will kill each other before detonation.

Show info is your friend. 3km/sec with a flight time of 10 seconds - they go about 30km. The explosion radius is 15km.

They can be killed before they blow - this will happen if you use too many bombs at once, or bombs of different damage types. IIRC, smart bombs can pop them as well.

Yes, but it would be difficult to do. If you launch a bomb and chase it with a microwarp on, you're probably going to die. Don't do that.

Ignore ROF. Reactivation delay is all that counts.

They can be targeted...they have a 400m signature radius and travel at 3000m/s for 10 seconds...have to be something with fast lock and fast tracking. But I would think an interceptor could do it. Not sure it could apply enough damage on something moving that fast before it goes boom. 240 Armor HP and 50 structure. and 99.5% resists to it's specific damage type...IE shrapnel is 99.5% resistant to explosive damage....hope that helps.

You should check out www.griefedgaming.com they are in the process of writing some stealth bomber guides along with bomber fits. They have a section that goes over bomb specifics along with how to use them in the Covert Tutorial section.

Go onto YouTube and search for bombers bar. It will be the first video that pops up. I created that video for people like you who don't know exactly how bombs work and it shows you a basic single bomber bombing run. Also feel free to join bomber bar in game and ask any questions and even join us on our nightly bomber fleets.
