Wait, what happened and who are you people?

It was going to be another long night, another long patrolling mission at the edge of Caldari space he thought to himself as he walked to the bridge. Why another patrol in this sector, nothing ever happens in this sector. Ever since the end to the Gallente-Caldari war, these patrols have been quite for the most part, sometimes a pirate but mostly just empty quite space. As he continued to walk to the bridge the constant activity on board this beautiful battlecruiser called a Drake pulled him back to Reality. The men and women of his crew need him to be alert, need him to be ready for anything. They were counting on him. Captain Tilron or as everyone who knew him called him Twulf which was his call sign.
“Please set ship condition to level 3 and prepare to undock” he said over the ships communication system as he sat in his commander’s seat in the bridge of the Drake. “Today we are going on a deep space patrol in Obe, our mission is to patrol this system for any pirates or enemies of the Caldari Navy.”

As the Drake flew threw the different systems on its way to Obe, the crew’s moral was high, they loved flying under Captain Twulf, he always brought them home alive. Some of the crew had been with him during the war and held Twulf in with the up most respect. Twulf consider his crew his family and he treated them as such but he understood he was the captain and that sometimes men died under his command. As the ship landed in Obe after the last jump gate, the captain came over the communication system again with new orders.

“Battle stations, battle stations, this is not a drill, set ship to condition 2 and prepare to start our patrol”. Twulf put the com down and start over to the radar and map station to work out the patrolling plan with the other officers on board. “We will start with the last Asteroid belt in the system and work are way up, then we shall patrol around the planets and finally scout the jump gates before leaving the system for home. This should take 5 hours. Let’s get to work men.”

As the officers left the area to report back to their sections and prepare the men for the mission. One of the radar men yelled out “Sir, Contact North North west at distance of 100km. Heading toward our location” Surprised and shocked that they found an enemy before they even started the patrol, Twulf took a few extra seconds to process the alert and then. “Roger, contact bearing North Northwest at 90km heading our direction. Battle Stations Battle Stations, set ship to condistion 1 and prepare for combat. This is not a drill. Repeat Not a drill. Align the ship to the nearest station, lock target and fire when in range.”

Everyone in the crew had been through this before, they knew what to expect, and they were ready. We had trained over and over for this, they were ready is what Twulf keep telling himself over and over as the distance closed. Just then over the communication speakers came bad news. “Sir, we have 3 more contacts all heading our way, 4 contacts, make that 5, no 6 contacts, 7, no 10 contacts sir, 10 contacts sir, all Guristas faction ships”

**** Twulf thought, we cannot take all of them on, how did they find us so fast? How did they know we would be here right then? A spy, it had to be a spy but whom? He started to think about who was involved in setting up this mission, who would benefit from his death? He was jarred from his though process as the first few ships had entered Missile range and his crew were following orders and firing their 7 missile batteries. Just then the warning signals started going off letting Twulf and the crew know they were now being locked and targeted.

“Put some distance between us and them, keep them at max range, we can stay out of their fire long enough to even the odds, we have a chance.” Twulf yelled over the communication system. As the Drake started taking damage, it was clear it could not hold very long against such an onslaught. The ship shock with such force from all the impacts that Twulf was thrown to the ground a few times during the fighting. As damage reports started pouring into the command center, Twulf knew it was time to call for a full evacuation. “Everyone this is the Captain, Abandon ship, Abandon ship.” The last thing Twulf remembered was a system warning of hull breach and then a white flash.

As I waken in a very bright lit room with nobody in it beside me, I try to sit up and find it very hard to do, my whole body feels odd, like I do not have full control over. I notice a small door with a window on the far side of the room. I start making my way to the door slowly as I hear “Please do not try and walk yet Sir, your clone is not ready for that yet. Please go back and lay down on the bed for the last steps of the cloning process” I stopped looked around to see if I could find this mystical voice telling me to go back to bed. I see nothing but I do not stop walking toward the door. As I near the door the voice comes back and says “The door is locked, you will not be able to leave until we finish the process, please go back to the bed so we may finish this process Captain Tilron” Wait, did they just call me Captain Tilron? Who is that? I wondered as I tried to open the door and sure enough it was locked.

As I turn back to the bed I hear a voice in my head say Call Sign Twulf.... Error..... and everything goes white. I awake to people everywhere, some watching me, some watching monitors, so looking at charts and paper work. I have no idea whats going on, who any of these people are let alone who I am. So I scream. "What happened? Who are you people? Who am I? What am I doing here?” Now I have everyone in the room looking at me with the look of fear and shock in their eyes. Now maybe I can get some answers.

Not a bad story Twulf, but I have a few questions for your story.

Why are you not in your capsule?

If you walk about your own ship, you will put a "human face" to your crew. In EVE, they are faceless and expendable.

We are capsuleers, we are demi-Gods, and we through the course of our mission running, warfare, pirating or whatever we do....have killed hundreds or thousands, millions or even billions of lesser humans

I don't mean to sound calous, but capsuleers are the select few. We are the choosen ones, the elite. In EVE, the only thing greater than us is Interstellar Kredits.

EVE Online Fan ... Looking for "End Game" since 2006 ... Happily, I still havn't found it

yes and No ok being out of ur pod doesn't quiet work since if you die out of your pod your dead your pod is what saves you it actually injects you with a nurotoxin when ur pod cracks so in fact no one ever really gets to kill you you pritty much your pod kills you

But having a Faceless crew is not always a must i fly a Carrier and a Dread and i have not lost them at all in Months and in that time of twiddling my thumbs im sure i would at least get to know the officers on my ship maybe not face to face but i dont see why you cant have a Laugh over coms not all of us are Heartless robots in space you know
