Okay so I check up on Eve Survival, make sure I have triggers listed, and warp in with my cane and give it a go. Initial spawn no problem, my AC cane at them up. Then first wave, no problem, second wave was doing good, till I killed tigger ship. Only problem was it was not supposed to be the trigger. and even the third wave did not have a trigger ship, there were no singleton ships. every ship had groups of 2 or three of them. Even the trigger ship i popped had 2 others just like it. What the heck? What are the triggers for this mission?!

The missions have a bit of variety built into them.

Then why do people bother telling you to not shoot triggers. If the triggers are truly random there's no way to prepare for them.

if you get 3 battleships and 7 battlecruisers and you look up online and it tells you that a gistum archenemy is the trigger battleship and you only see 3 gistasus maximi battleships, then chances are the trigger is one of the battleships ~~~`

Funny name or highest bounty, if neither is present, shoot n' pray.

Sometimes it's not the ship with the weird name or the highest bounty, quite a few missions seem to alternate the triggers and occasionally throw you a curveball where the trigger is the lowest bounty in a group. That said eve survival is usually pretty accurate, make sure to expand and read any comments that are posted, anomalous triggers tend to be listed in the comments.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

If you worried about triggers, shoot the ships with the same names and bounties first, till you have one of everything, then see what eve survival says, that's the best you can do.

This. All Blockade missions have randomness built in and triggers are often hard/impossible to determine. Since we know a BS will be the trigger 99 times out of 100, kill everything else first to minimize the number of rats active during unexpected spawns.
