Glad to see it really happened Smile

There has been one other survey I participated in that I did get ISK for, just as he promised. That one was the standard Sociology questionnaire though, so I could see why it would need a carrot to get answers.

The whole 'fail at EVE' thing is where I tend to diverge from convention at times. I honestly do not believe you can fail at EvE - IF you allow yourself to taste everything that's to offer here, and see what you actually like.

Perhaps that's the true problem - motivation. That's been the number one reason why I've stepped away from the game for awhile, or just from various player corps.

I've done quite a number of things, both on the combat and industry sides. I like to do things on both, and I hate things on both. But my own quandaries stem from the need to find a community to truly fit in with; And as someone who's not actually played combat MMOs prior to this (both Myst Online and Second Life are cooperative in nature), its been my biggest challenge. After all, trust isn't exactly in great supply here, and I exude it so much it sometimes scares people off. P

[BTW, get rid of sec status hits in Low Sec (or restrict it to podding) and I'd be down there a lot more often. I'm probably not the only one too.]

See I think due to the nature of perception or the agreement of those perception to be "true" or "right" or "real" is what would constitute failure or success. Tbh like life if your having fun doing what your doing you can argue that its not failing. Its just anothers perception of what failure is. The majority has been wrong more often than its been right, its a historical fact thats been proven over time and always will.

Yes fitting in is a hard thing to find. In families, work or other social groups, in relationships with the opposite sex. Finding that unity or togetherness is a HUGE factor and the hardest imo about life.

Yes if your too nice here the first thought is spy. Buying your way into someones confidence to rip them off later. Tbh play how you want to play, least I do, what someone else does with it is up to them. As long as Im having fun thats all that matters to me. Like life Eve is a sandbox and in that "reality" I get to create what constitutes as "fun", "joy", "happiness", etc for myself and though to communicate I need some sort of standardized rule I find as I get older I dont. These things are what I make of them and nothing more, everyone elses opinions and choices mean nothing to me. I exist and that is all. So I apply that to my gaming as well. Ill go out and make my own fun, rules, etc. And though its nice to have friends who think the same way as me its not necessary anymore. In fact nothing is.

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

I just finished your test and like the idea a lot.
One thing, though: psychological standardized test are ususally translated into the testee's native language for better validity. The users from EVE online come from various countries, and only a part of the are native english speakers.
It would be clever to add a little item like "native speaker yes/no" into your questionaire to deduct possible language effects that might screw your statistics.

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

Finished, very much looking forward to the results!
Some questions on my ingame character were quite hard to answer, as I do not really think about roleplay side of it too much. I feel little connection to my character in EVE, but instead I remain the player behind the computer. The characters are tools and names by which other people know me. So instead of thinking about the character's psychology I answered the question with my "EVE playing me" in mind, which is not a full person as in "has a name, parents, friends and a dog" but just my main motivations to do things in EVE.

This was annoying. Did the first half,
I was expecting it to include situations that you might find in eve, and then seeing how you would re-act in game. Vs how you saw yourself.

This survey is utterly pointless to me, as its two sets of the SAME questions.
I, like I am sure most people I know in Eve, do not "role play".

Its just me <

So rather than fill out the same set of questions twice, I gave up.

I think will find there are alot of people in the game, who play it for the fantastic PVP. And don't write alot of fan fiction about what their spaceship barbie has got up to.

I guess this is part of the reason I find corp thieves and people who dishonour 1v1's so infuriating.
They're all "My character is a space villian sociopath", and I am "no, you are a douche".

I couldn't complete the survey. Answering the questions about myself was easy, but the questions about my in-game character are the same. Would my character enjoy going to an Art gallery? Does he plan ahead and organize things? Does he feel satisfied with himself? What the **** has this to do with EVE? There are no Art galleries in EVE and EVE characters cannot feel anything.

Sorry, but this survey can only be completed by roleplayers, who are a tiny fraction of the EVE playerbase.

I find it interesting that most EVE players wouldn't classify themselves as roleplayers, yet they do things to people in-game that they'd never do IRL, citing that "it's just a game". Acting differently in-game is sorta roleplaying, isn't it?

The alternative explanation is that they'd randomly attack people and scam IRL if they could get away with it.

I too would be interested in reading the results of this study.

@Midori Amiiko

We could make lots of ISK off that pretty face of yours. Let me know if you're interested. Cool

As for the topic...I'll try to get to it later.

Nice survey.

My only gripe is that the wording of certain questions would be similar but switched around so if one question was phrased positively, the similar one would be phrased negatively. Was a little confusing.

Is that on purpose? P
