The Game of EVE

Before I played EVE, I played Enemy Territory (ET). I started ET in 2003 around the same time as EVE came into the world.

I had no idea EVE existed until the day I started the toon.

Still boggles my mind. That was in early 2009.

Quickly, I found myself with multiple toons and sending $60usd a month to CCP. No problem. I don't play many games other than EVE, my first MMO.

After the requisite leap off the learning cliff I managed to understand enough of the game to keep an interest and earn some PLEX.

A couple years later, I know how to make enough to afford a plex for all my toons if I wish.

It has lead me to a point where I can truly begin to appreciate all aspects of the game and take full measure of the possibilities,

For me, DUST 514 reminds me of the high adrenaline gameplay of ET set in the EVE universe. It shall be glorious!

Every element of EVE can be a fullfilling experience.

In the begining there are usually missions and standing grinding, if your EVE-born (as The Mittani like to say).

Otherwise you are brought into the bosom of which ever social network is your nest.

Understanding the mechanics of the game, how things work. Those are missions. Once you get good. You can plex an account doing it.

The market and economy of EVE, and the fraud, can easily be made to PLEX an account, once you grind enough capital.

If you pick your targets well, PVP can score you untold treasure and tears.

Manufacturing is for those in the know. If you dont know, you will lose money. Same with the market and fraud.

Meta-Game and SOV will lead you down the garden path. Along which there are many pretty things.

Exploration is an art. A masterpiece can be priceless.

Which leads me to mining.

Mining is a discipline. You cannot concentrate on the finger or you will miss all of that heavenly glory, as a wise man once said.

The skilled miner can earn a PLEX in a few days of casual play.

If you can PLEX you can play.

My point to all this, is to encourage new players, to play the game the way they want play it, with the people they want to play with.

You can play for free in just about every profession if you get good at it.

Just remember, spaceships are serious business.

@CCP The only thing I REALLY want you to do at the moment is to keep the servers from melting when Jita burns.

tl;dr

Be your own boss, play your own game, play for free, and play for fun.

My concern can be measured in micro giv-a-shits.

I also liked ET. Did you ever play on the WeedHeaven server?

Wow. I haven't seen centered text like that since I fled my last poetry forum.

Could we have this moved to the children's section? Thanks! Blink

I see what happened here, you clicked on this thread expecting it to NOT mention DUST but then it did so you have to resort to your generic 'I am far superior to you' response

Now, more than ever, we need a dislike button.

Anybody mentioning mining and PLEX in the same sentence isn't playing very smart.

Why was it all centered? Is it a poem? I didn't read it.

Yeah, that layout is not a great one, at first glance I thought it might be a menu, so I was going to order steak.

Enemy Territory? You mean, Quake: Enemy Territory? My mind is a jumble of memories, embarrassing moments, shoddy relationships and drunken head-trips, but If I recall correctly, Q:ET came out well after EVE was around.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars was the beginning of the end for me, I couldn't get into it. I stuck with ET classic on the [MG] [HKF] [WF] and [BUNKER] servers mostly.

The centered text and double spacing is simply a way to test for OCD.

My concern can be measured in micro giv-a-shits.
