I was looking around and I found this:

http://eveboard.com/fullranks/47-most-isk

Where do these money cows get all this isk gathered from? Anybody have an idea?

The top guy has 300 billion, not trillion.

Still though, quite a bit for a single guy.

Says some of these guys have hundreds of trillions of isk.

I don't even know anybody that has One Trillion isk, this one guy has like 300 trillion. wtf.

In RL, the wealthiest of individuals are deeply entwined with their respective governments to achieve their astronomical levels of wealth. Do you believe that it works any differently here?

Ah yeah you are right, I saw the two zeros at the end as ,000 for some reason.

Still... Where does that cash come from?

Somerset and Rothbard earned their isk by running gambling sites; Akita through market speculation.

From mining, its a cool kid sport.

No really, mining.

Or maybe smart market pvp, one of those.

I'm number 70 on this list at present, I was in the 40s until I traded some of my liquidity for assets in the wake of the coming patch. The first four years I played or so I was relatively poor. I started ransoming Capital ships that undocked from kickout stations. Then once I had enough isk for Colateral I joined the EOH poker staff. Between banking and gambling my wallet has never looked better :)

Most people have their ISK in assetts or in altcorp wallets, it is quite rare to see people have that much isk in their personal wallets. If only for the simple reason a typo in a market order can wipe it all out in a second.

Also the really rich people don't advertise it.

Those listed, while wealthy, are not even the tip of the iceberg. There are people with net worth well into trillions. Most are (good) traders I guess. If you want to catch a glimpse of the kind of elaborate schemes that make such a big buck, go read this story - https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=939778& . Note: I wouldn't even classify that as a scam. It is also one of the best EVE stories I have ever read.

OP, some people are real pack rats.

It is a interesting site but far from complete, it doesn't report every player in EVE.

Well I got my ISK from grinding wh sites and doing null sec exploration, and I'd come up nearer the top of that list in terms of wealth. I'm also sitting on a *very* large pile of morphite which I bought back in January.

So id say that kind of wealth is perfectly possible to achieve via regular PvE, especially if you don't lose much stuff and just accumulate it over time.

You should read this tweet from CCP.

http://twitter.com/#!/ccp_diagoras

It is a huge supply of information, all very current.

Last time I checked, the players are generating about 34 trillion/month in income.
That sounds like a huge number, but when divided by the subscription base of close to 400,000, it is not quite that big.

If we assume my numbers above are close to accurate, the average account, not char, generates 85 million monthly.

The very smart players who understand the game mechanics and the Eve economy manage to funnel a lot of that into their own accounts, just like in the real world.

Actually what needs to be looked at to really understand it is the injection of pure ISK. ISK trading hands doesn't really matter since ISK just gets moved around, it's the like missions rewards, bounties, incursions etc that inject ISK into the game that is the value to look at.

A) Have you added your main to eveboard?

B) Have you set the wallet to visible?

This is the mistake the OP has made, he assumes that every account on there has their wallet visible and then of course asset value isn't factored in either otherwise Entity would be pushing the trillion mark Shocked

If I liquidated all my stuff I could get to about 150B in wallet, but why should I care to list over there?

With the current inflation it is best to not be on that list.
