Monday 2nd April 2012 -

Apologies for releasing such an awful version the first time round. I have fixed the formulas and they now accurately report the same values as I obtained from Eve HQ and bpc's from contracts.

Fixed the calculations and available for download right now - Download link is on the website at the end of this post. Any errors, please let me know.

31st March 2012 -

During further testing I noticed Tech 2 quotes were messed up due to the Damage per Runs on the RAM Item not being taken in to account. While it is for the most part a very small percentage of the total cost of most Tech 2 Items, I feel a spreadsheet is only as good as it is accurate and thus removed the download link from the site. Version 1.010 will hopefully be completed and released later on today to address this issue and remove the database links that doesn't actually need to exist, unless you want a copy of the database so you can you play around with it and experiment (update?) the workbook yourselves I'm not going to do that unless asked, so if you would like the Access database (Tables linked to the SQL datadump will however be removed) please leave a message and I'll provide download details in due course.

Apologies for not testing it more robustly, however I do hope you enjoy the feel and continue using and supporting the Eve Industrial Calculator which has been a labour of love of mine over many years. I'm off to see my son and have a Gym induction today, no longer will I be a coach potato, well except on days off but that's allowed surely?

30th March 2012

It has Returned - here's a picture.

EIO 2012 Inventory Sheet 1.

Returns (Soon-ish).

This is primarily an Eve forum presence to announce updates and milestones reached in the continued saga of the Eve Industrial Organiser re-boot. A little history.

It all started when I really really wanted to know how many minerals it would take to build all the ammo types the corp was getting through each week. Asking that question led to a lot of paper based calculations and searches and there was absolutely nothing around that could or would calculate the amounts of two or more different items and in multiple runs with different ME levels etc. etc.

Anyway, I created a standalone Access version which produced a report based on the shopping list you entered. It was nasty but it did answer the question above.

Fast forward a few years and due to my absolute fear of coding anything more than 'Hello World' it turned in to an oversized excel inventory management tool spanning seven or eight work books mostly interconnected with each other.

Needless to say it was a pain to keep updated and remembering where and how things were stored was a pain. I rarely used it past it's release which says a lot about how disorganised it was. I believe it was trying to do too many things around a central inventory system, which was manually updated by the user. No one wants to keep track of even 8 different minerals on a fast moving production line where things get built and purchased on an hourly basis. I certainly couldn't be bothered so why should anyone else?

Back to the present - the need for the Eve Industrial Organiser has waned (if it ever existed beyond my self taught excel skills), with alliances and corporations using server fronted solutions all ticking away nicely. However I can't play Eve and NOT use an industrial tool of my own creation, but it will have to be sleeker, easier to maintain and fulfil the original question.

How much material do I need to achieve the monthly/weekly goal?

Does it really need to tell me the build price per unit? Should it tell me how much profit I could make if I sold the materials on the open market and purchased the same quantity of items anyway?

Answer to both, not really important. It's a game, if I make a profit so be it. If I lose out on an opportunity to make a profit and I don't know about it, did I actually miss out, or did I spend more time in game having fun?

Sometimes you can chase the figures around a spreadsheet and miss the important things such as call to arms, and interesting conversations about interesting topics.

While it would be nice possibly. The simplistic approach out of game - could lead to a more warm and fuzzy feeling in-game.

I hope to see you with a release very soon.

UNBELIEVABLE!!! You can download the sheet from the link below. On the left in the navigation panel is also a Tutorial Section that will be updated and re-iterated during the life cycle.

Its time to stand up against the bad empire based CEO telling falsehoods about what new characters can accomplish and pushing them towards an in game experience of drudgery and loneliness keeping them in the shadow of ignorance for at nest their own profit at worse apathy towards all the experiences that Eve has to offer.

The workbook is being tidied up, the front page on the site has been updated.

I foresee a download being made available some time on Saturday, possibly sooner, although I would like to get some screen images and an overview (especially the market price import method).

Any questions don't hesitate to post. I thank you, on a side note it's the smoothest sheet every, I just hope the updated datadump doesn't break anything :p

Have fun and fly hard!

You know how things are, now that it's done and in a usable state I just had to upload it at the earliest opportunity - well click the link below which will take you to the google site and the download link is on the left.

All feedback and donations appreciated.

Edit: Badly placed tutorial link accidently seen it as I was about to click back on the spreadsheet. Should post all the links necessary on this thread imo ;)

Need some Computer/Excel knowledge to know how to get this thing working.
Tutorial

Basically Download/Install EVE-HQ
Get Market Prices.

Market prices will be stored in C:\Users\AppData\RoamingData\EVEHQ\Marketeer (this isn't the exact correct path but you can find it in the tutorial)

You update the Excel sheet's connections with this XML file stored in that above location. (Means a more recent gathering of Prices in the region you selected to update in EVEHQ)

Refresh PriceImport sheet

Then you have to fix the "Some text imported as text" error manually. All in all once you get it to work this could come in handy, but if you're new to excel and such it's going to be your worst nightmare.

Converting to numbers is terribly slow, use this method instead.

DATA (tab) > Select Column' > Text to Columns > Delimited > Uncheck all Delimiters > General data Format (Finish) > Right click Column > Format Cells > Number

Crappy quality but you get the idea.

Thanks to Default for stepping up and covering my arse

A full Tutorial is on its way, I believe I hastened to upload it before it was documented. I can only apologise, admit I was too excited to get it out to the public, and work faster on the tutorial. In my haste to get the workbook out to the public arena, I left the pivot tables linked to the database. I didn't normally do this as it involves packing the database and a second download. It's not really necessary as any update to the datadump, usually means changing the layout to the spreadsheet. Why keep two files updated when it can be done once by me and you get the spreadsheet? I'm still debating on uploading the database, if you really want it, please mention it here along with positives that I am missing myself

To Do List

Increase font size in the navigation pane. (done

Links on the front page perhaps as navigation pane is barely visible

Complete Tutorial and remember that I understand column titles but not everyone will

Price sheet, Column formatting. - Wow, that's a much faster method thank you for that, I'll be updated the tutorial to do it that way instead of error checking method. Much appreciated

I've been told that it would go faster with a macro that minimizes the excel window then updates, and resets the window, but hey a macro in an eve tool. Hmm, probably not a popular move. Feel free to write it yourself though, this applies to the initial update fr

I appreciate the feedback it will be addressed during the course of the day

An update will be released later today to address an issue with certain items not being calculated properly.

A bit later than expected a busier than usual weekend occurred.

As stated in the original post, the formulas have been fixed, please read the revision history on the 'Information' worksheet on the workbook.

Has anybody used this in Open Office? And can possibly post any setup steps necessary with OO.

It's not compatible with open office sorry. As stated before it doesn't have the same features (that I'm aware of anyway) that Excel has.

If OO has pivot tables and an import from access feature then it's pretty close but I haven't attempted to convert it.
