Can someone clue me in on the advantages (and disadvantages) of remaining in Minmatar space?

I have been told that Caldari and Amarr are the hotspots for settling, but I am weighing the pros and cons of packing up and moving away from my beloved home of 2 days.

Thank you in advance!

What reasons are they giving you for going to Caldari/Amarr space? If there's a good reason for you specifically to go, then there's no reason not to. But if it's just because someone said Cal/Amarr space is better, you can safely ignore them.

The reasons given were activity, population, and trading advantages in those markets (I believe there are two market hubs that are incredibly active?)

I am just trying to figure out if there is a serious disadvantage to staying in Minmatar space. I like it here.

There are plenty of people in Min space too. And Rens is up there as a trade hub too, it does just fine (I live in Min space and I haven't felt the need to go to Jita in months, Rens has always had everything I need).

Thank you for the information! I appreciate it.

As it turns out, three of my friends are in Caldari space, so rather than moving three people to me, I will be packing up and moving out there.

I just need to finish all my tutorials like a good student pilot, then I will be hugging Malukker goodbye and heading off into the great unknown!

My word of advice is: dont call any system or station you "home"

You will soon be all over hisec. Then maybe all over nullsec.

See -> toons are like ppl, they like STUFF, and once they move stuff stays and they buy NEW STUFF and so on and so forth u end up in having STUFF in period basis, syndicate, etherium reach, querious, delve, half a doesn lowsec cyno systems and so on and so forth.

Therefore -> just do what makes you enjoy the game, dont worry whose station it is, as long as it lets you dock...

"Home" is a euphemism for "that place I park my junk," but your advice is noted. Luckily, I tend to think wherever I am and whatever I am doing, it's definitely the coolest place and activity to be had.

There are several trade hubs in Eve,Jita beeing the biggest one. But you will find Rens in minmatar space which is the second largest i think.

The only real negative side with moving is missions. Since your minmatar i imagion you run missions for them. If your standing with caldari/amarr gets to low the faction police will agress you when you enter their space (note, not concord). This dosent make it impossible to live there, but you might want to reconsider things like AP and such if your standings gets that low.

If your friends live in caldari space it is very possible that they are running missions for the caldari faction and will be willing to let you join their fleet so that you can get your standing up so that you can have easier acess to agents in that area.

But if you want to keep running for minmatar just be careful and keep an eye on your standing. Train skills like diplomacy, try to turn down faction missions (if you run for minamatr you will have more trouble with amarr then caldari), do missions for sisters of Eve,and join up with people running for caldari to make sure that caldari wont end up hating you.

Good luck Smile

Thank you for the advice. I did join a fleet last night and helped with Caldari missions for several hours. A happy coincidence.

So far Caldari is really, really crowded.

I do believe Amarr actually is the second largest ( see end of this http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Amarr_(System) ). I think Rens and Hek both being in Minmatar space might affect it? Just my opinion though, no research on my part.

As far as actually to the op. Yes, Caldari space is more crowded, and if you are wanting to trade? (only real reason for trade hub stuff), Jita is certainly the largest. With that size in my opinion comes a lot more chaos and .01 isk wars...which I would rather avoid when I can. Amarr is slower, but Dodixie is also rather nice. I have not really traded in Rens or Hek.

As previous posters mentioned, if you are doing missions watch standings. They also referenced the Sisters of Eve mission arc. If you are going to do missions, or just because...I really enjoyed this and it is a great boost to standings, so I would strongly encourage you to do it ( link http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/The_Blood-Stained_Stars ). If you need help, forums and google are great :)

I was going to say no reason to leave Minmatar space, but saw you have friends in Caldari space. Stick with friends at least for the start, EVE is much more fun with some interaction with others.

Enjoy EVE and good luck with your endeavors!

The rats in Minmatar space leave better salvage. Alloyed Tritanium Bars. All the rest aren't as good. Caldari & Gallente have alwasy stunk but one of the formerlly valuable Amarr space bits ... something like ... Damaged Control Consoles has plummeted in value. Amor plates are still good but you get those every where. ATB's are everywhere to but ... Angel wrecks leave a lot more.

Now - as to losing your Minmatar standings. That only matters if you care. If you're friends are in Caldari Space and you want to stay there and play with them - then you can just become a sort of default Caldari. No one cares.

What they do care about - is not where you come from - but what you do. If you run a lot of missions for the Caldari you will lose standings with the Gallente the most and Minmatar next - but - that doesn't matter if you want to stay in Caldari space.

Crowded systems are desireable for some people but not desireable for others. Fewer people means fewer competitors and fewer ganks as well as more customers and suppliers.

Just decline the Storyline missions and the odd mission you get against an opposing faction.

Yeah, the change of background color palette is nice. I've been in Minmatar brown-red backgrounds for 9 months and always enjoy the Caldari blues when I go to Jita. I kind of wish the game would mix up the background colors a little, within the various faction zones.

It does sort of.
Some Caldari systems are dreamy blue, others are really really dark.

Pay a visit to Niyabainen for instance, next door to jita, then autopilot to Kusomonmon. You'll notice a few shifts in theme ;)

I appreciate all of the advice tremendously! I am also not against going back to my old stomping ground (of 2 days) and keeping my faction up. Minmatar holds a lovely place in my heart.

I have been having lots of success in Lonetrek and I think I have narrowed down a nice little speck of space where I can be a n00bie Carebear for a while longer.

I began some innocuous Caldari mining missions to get myself into good standing. I will definitely look into The Blood Stained Stars (thank you, Sentar!).

You have all been kind and helpful, and I thank you!
