So I started a new corp to do some research and have been waiting for my corps standing to match my characters standing of 8.**. its been a week worth of down times and still have NO standings, not even bad standings.
Am I missing something?
I ran a few story line missions for the faction as well. but nothing is changing.
Any advice?

I just had to do this again myself after about a year away from the game but this is what I *think* I had to do to get my standings to match the character who created the corp. Dunno if it was necessary but it worked.

I. Create Corp
II. Run missions, get story line mission with standing to NPC Sov.
III. Wait
IV. POS

It may take a week/week + 1 day, I'm not 100% sure. There is also a delay I think before the game states you have the standings and the time you actually do get the standings. For me I did my story line mission the same day I created the new Corp and then waited a week +1.

thanks for the input, It been 5 days since the first story-line, so looks like I will have to have more patience.

as far i know and in my experience you need a 5.0 corptate factionstanding ,

That factionstanding is recalculated everyday during down time and is the average factionstanding of every member that has been a member of your corporation for more than 7days , raw standing not effective standing mind you

So if you start a new corp and you have enough standing, you will have the standing to put up a pos in high sec , 5.0 for a 0.5 system , 6.0 for a 0.6 systeĆ¹ etc

if you allow new members in you have 7 days before their faction standing is calculated into your corp faction standing

So basicly as soon you got your factionstanding wait till after DT and try if not clear your cache and if that doesn't help file a petition

But mind you it is the raw unedited faction standing that is used not your effective standing

I do not agree with what you are saying , but i will defend to the death your right to say it...... Voltaire

do lvl 1 storyline missions give the same as lvl 4 storyline or is it better to go lvl 4s for faction standings?

percentage reward in standing is is the same i think just the rewards are much better , but there are different ways to gain faction standing , circle agents data center agents etc have alook at this link

it will help you alot to get to the require standing

Lvl 4 storylines give much better standings increase than lvl 1s

to gain standings...

Some people like to blitz lvl 4 missions

Some like to run lvl 4 courriers (especially if your mission running skills are so-so)

Some like to blitz lvl 3 missions (faster than the lvl 4 but slightly less rewards)

Then you have all the usual suspects, but when you look at mission running those are the options which different people, for different reasons, use. Try them out, see which one works best for you.
