At the moment we can filter either by System or Region.

My brother recently started playing the game and was frustrated at the unavailability of mods near him. Little did he know there was mods 2j away in the region next to him.

Market results already know how many jumps away they are.
Can we please add a filter by number of jumps regardless of region?

"Within 10 jumps"

  • option 1, you look at your current system in http://evemaps.dotlan.net/ and see if you're close to another region.
  • option 2, you do the same, but with your ingame map

The reason why we don't have those kinda filters, is because it would eliminate a lot of trade routes for all sorts of haulers/traders currently makeing a profit out of them. Being limited to regions makes it worthwhile for someone to go to a cheaper region and supply another region with a margin. If that "route" is only 1-3 jumps, I'd suggest you invest in it :)

awareness and a DOTLAN map ingame is all you need to avoid the situation you laid out, you might not realize but there are lots of people making lots of money trading and managing markets because of the systemic inefficiencies that you wish to eliminate

We are our own worst enemy.

I love how the in-game map is option 2 and not 1, thats how unfriendly the interface is for just looking at the local regions.

Suggesting new users use a 3rd party website to look to see if another region is close so that they can then fly there and see if a 1mn afterbuner is on the market is ridiculous.

Having an option like this would help break down trade hubs. People selling to quieter regions would have more exposure. This would help people selling their gear, not cripple it. Yes, it would hurt the few people who like to gouge unknowledgeable newbs, but meh, thats a price I'm willing to accept for the convenience of everyone.
