You already can. There is a small white box to the lower right of your cap, right click on it, click on "Audio Alerts" and customize/disable from there.

Ah cool for the audio warning prefrence, now I'll no longer have to get a low shield warning while armor tanking.

This is EVE, and Being afk or watching telly or drinking beer while watching porn is DANGEROUS!!!! if you are not concentrating on EVE then the likelyhood is you will get blowded up! Loud alarms will make me miss something important on the telly / spill my beer / tug too hard and potentially damage myself!

And before anyone says, i like the word blowded Cool

There already is a you are a target alarm. You hear it when you input the password and the girl says 'connecting'

Targeting alarm would be great.

Extra points for CCP if they make it sound like the "red alert" klaxon from Star Trek!

Game's easy enough without people who got suicide ganked demanding that they have an extraneous alarm that mainly applies to people who want to alt-tab and not pay attention.

If you don't like losing your Hulk/Mackinaw/Covetor then play the game. Also, those sounds would be bloody ****** for the people who pvp, especially with blobs or gate camps, imagine if you had it go off 20 times in a minute or more because a cyno popped (of course, turn the sound off).

**** some people don't like being responsible in a game that is advertised as sandbox gameplay. You shouldn't play if you think people being creative is a problem in your little corner of the game.

What purpose would this serve? There are already plenty of visual and audio indicators available to let you know both when you are being targeted, about to be shot at, and being shot at. If those aren't enough then you are both blind and deaf.

Adding stuff just because you think it would be cool is a great way to screw things up. If you have an idea it should either solve a problem or serve a function that no other thing serves. This idea has neither.

Just for reference, lets look at all the audio and visual warnings.

Visual
-Flashing lock icons on screen and overview
-Yellow boxes on screen and overview
-Red boxes on screen and overview
-Damage information
-HP bars
-Stuff hitting your ship
-Stuff flying out of other peoples ships

Audio
-Locking sounds
-Sound of your ship being hit
-Gunshots/missile sounds
-Heavy shield damage alarm
-Heavy armor damage alarm
-Heavy hull damage alarm

There is quite a lot here. Even a completely new player can tell something is going wrong with all of these warnings. What you are suggesting is helpful, yet 100% unnecessary.

Also imagine what would happen in a fleet fight! The Epilepsy Foundation would not approve!

Generally the Shield, Armour and Structure sounds make very good alarms if your blind

If your deaf, then the red box visual system is pretty good

If your blind AND deaf, then your probably in a drake and just fine.

Agreed. A real spaceship would warn you, loudly, if some other spaceship were locking onto yours, for whatever that's worth. Definitely not as important, as, say, visibly showing the debuffs on you.
