hello everybody!

me and eve online... yes, some of you have been wondering what has happened to me and eve commander in the past few months. Well, i've somehow taken a leave of absence from the game. Ok, i still am to be honest (doing some WoT now on a much more leisurely pace). The whole commotion this summer about 'incarna', api licensing etc has somehow taken a toll on me. additionally, i have pretty much achieved everything in eve that i set out to achieve. the top of it being a shiny 24 billion isk nyx standing around in space somewhere.

so you see, i am kind of out of motivation to go on for the moment. there's no desire anymore to kick off like 240 invention jobs a day with a total of 12 chars doing t2 production stuff. almost 6 years has been a long time for doing that...

most of my 10 accounts are set for expiration (i always did the yearly subscriptions). woddel will stay alive for sure. i will be here. but less. much less.

eve commander... it will continue to run as is. i hope to be able to somehow include the new api system without too much pain of redesigning the core stuff around it. i am thinking about removing the fee stuff and just make it free. just give me some more time to ponder this.

for the moment, i want to thank everybody that has been part of my eve online experience. including you! it's been wonderful times. and maybe i come back to them. until then, so long and fly safe!

Sorry to hear that you might be leaving, but I do understand where you're coming from. I hope the new API isn't too hard to setup.

eve commander shuts down...

after 4 years of development and running this website and all related services, eve commander will come to an end. to honor all running accounts, it will stay online for a few more month, but accountcreation will be turned off and no more bills for premium accounts will be sent. i really want to thank all supporters and users for the many years of great experiences with eve online and eve commander!

kudos to all fellow api gurus and community supporters like chribba, wolari, ombey and who they all are! i bow before each and every one of you!

Hey Woddel

Im sad to see it shut down :(

I find the work which was done on Eve Commander to be brilliant, is there anyway you would be able to share some of the projects running on eve commander(not userdata ofc.)

Dont want to see 6 years of work going down the drain.

Fly safe outside of EVE! o7

Ahh noooo.

That's sad. For the last couple of years I've used Eve Commander more than EVE itself. The wonderful interface and tools have kept me in touch with a game I've not been able to play properly for a while.

And It has the best agent finder.

CCP should buy it or even employ you :)

Thanks

We need someone to develop a tool to replace this PLEASE! I'm not a good enough coder to handle the task but I use this tool a TON! He has just announced on his website it's only got a few months of run time left on the site and he's taking it down.

Much needed features in the new tool are industrial and market management at the corp level.

Those are the worst Eve news I had for quite a long time.

Thank you very much. It's been an invaluable tool all this years.

This is a shame, would it work on bluedragon or ralio? You can't just let a tool like this slip away and die a quiet death Sad

I am sorry to see Eve Commander shut down. As one of the earlier supporter of the project, I am saddened to see it shut down and I am sad to see you go.
Best of luck in the future

Any chance of you posting the source on source forge so that someone can pick it up and run with it if they wanted to?

This is bad news! May I ask the reason for brining this amazing service to a close? I only ask because I'd be tempted to try and recreate some of what you had going on your site, but I'd be interested to know what pitfalls you've encountered that have caused you to stop maintaining it so that I don't waste months of my life only to discover the same problems myself!

This is a genuine shame. This is a fantastic service that I quite enjoy using (particularly on my mobile phone or when I can't install software). The nice thing about eve-commander is that all I really need is a browser - so on Linux or my phone I'm within reach of my character's information in a well-presented format, and without setting up new software or finding API keys all over again.

I'd be more than happy to pick up and run (and maintain the code for) the site if that is an option. I'm sure there's many other similar offers, woddel. Shows the impact you've had on the community!

If there's no future for eve commander on another host, I'm quite willing to go ahead and write an alternative.

Sad to hear it's all coming to an end.
