Hello EvE
I have noticed that at the current moment courier contracts could be in need of a slight overhaul or maybe a bit of a refreshing change to bring them from the dust that I at the moment percieve them in.

It is right now no matter if your transporting 1,000m^3 or 900,000m^3 the usual norm to have a courier with appropiate collateral as the person see's fit which is perfectly alright system. However the rewards for no matter what the size lie at around 20k-40k Isk per jump.

The lower size couriers are obviously very quickly done with a small hauler that is readily available for most of EvE so seeing a reward drop down to even 10k Isk per jump is perfectly reasonable. However I highly doubt even Interbus would touch a courier contract that takes them 18 jumps at only 30k per jump with 900,000m^3 amounting to a measly 5.4 mil reward.

I simply propose a small amendment to the way couriers are made that might cause a slight outrage but if someone wants to rage they can gladly train and alt to be a freighter pilot and invest the time and now the high value of them.

Amendment would simply be a 1 Isk minimum charge per m^3 and jump this would have the following effect.

100m^3 over 10 jumps would have a minimum courier reward value of 1000 Isk
800,000m^3 over 10 jumps would have a minimum courier reward value of 8 mil Isk

We can see from this a big increase from simply the amount to transport over the same distance this would make it possible for new players to make a little bit of money on the side and even allow them to make couriers in a more straigthforward way, if you want to increase the speed of the courier being accepted one can still drive the total isk reward up just not below the minimum. From before the 18 jump case of 900,000m^3 would then have a reward of 16.2 mil sure the increase is minimal but it actually starts making the process just a tiny bit more worthwhile the more you transport.

This would also make freighters more worthwhile to get for logistic corporations or traders because this will more strongly affect profit margins making the interstellar logistics and trade more realistic and more valueable for those who choose to invest in it.
I could see the price for freighters going up from this further due to more demand at the same time griefers i can expect to want to stop couriers due to tears of more worthwhile rewards being ruined.

This is simply to put a minimum value on the cargo logistics market.

If you have any comments please keep them constructiveBig smile

Just don't take the courier contracts that aren't worth it to you then. It's a player-driven market, if the prices are too low, they won't get hauled. If they do get hauled, then atleast somebody felt it was worth it.

I disagree with implementing a minimum wage in EVE.

The only issue I currently have with courier contracts is that you can look inside containers that are inside the plastic wrap.

This means that the collateral for any given contract must be higher than the value of the materials being transported or else obviously, since they know what theyre transporting, they'll just take it and run.

I propose not being able to open containers (giant secure containers, general freight containers etc) without being charged the collateral. That way you're still able to steal what's in the contract, but you never know if its someone just paying you to haul one unit of trit in a giant secure container hopeing you'll steal it.

I do understand the motive behind the idea, but we do not want CCP involved in price fixing schemes because they will never get it right. That's no ill reflection on CCP, it's just how things are. No government can ever know what the right price for something is, and in this role, CCP is government.

If a job is under priced, don't do it. Free Market principals will take care of it.

The main competition for haulers is not one another, not even the cheap people who can't price their jobs right, but the people that insist that hauling their goods to a hub for an extra 20% is worth their time; time they could have better used creating more product or making more money doing whatever it is they usually do.

"Minerals I mine are free" ... apparently taking a 20 jump round trip is free too.

Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.  - William Pitt

There are lots of great high value contracts... they get accepted in under 60s... People have a perception that they all suck cause those are the ones that get left when all the good ones get snatched up.
